Single, upwardly mobile attorney who recently became partner at his firm at a very young age. This is his first “big boy house” and after years of living college and dorm mismatched items, the client decided to work with our firm. The space was awkward occupying a top floor of a four story walk up. The floorplan was very efficient; however it lacked any sense of “wow” There was no real foyer or entry. It was very awkward as it relates to the number of stairs. The solution: a very crisp black and while color scheme with accents of masculine blues. Since the foyer lacked architecture, we brought in a very bold and statement mural which resembles an ocean wave, creating movement. The sophisticated palette continues into the master bedroom where it is done in deep shades of warm gray. With a sense of cozy yet dramatic.

Kowalske Kitchen & Bath was hired as the remodeling contractor for this first floor remodel in the countryside of Oconomowoc, WI. By opening the kitchen up to the living room, the layout is better for hosting family gatherings. The entire family can be together in the kitchen and living room – cooking or spending time together. Highlights of this country kitchen include a window seat, walk-in pantry and space for their treasured piano.
Project Goals
+ Restore the beauty of their family home, that was built by the homeowner’s grandfather
+ Cooking functionality for their family farm
+ Add a workstation sink for easy food prep
+ Pantry storage space for canned items & wine collection
+ Design that honors the mid-century ranch bones of the house her grandfather built and their own traditional style
Challenges & Issues
+ Needed space to highlight their piano, since the homeowner is an avid pianist
+ Old layout didn’t have good views of their outdoor space – the lake, gardens and chicken coop
+ Kitchen was too small and cut off from the rest of the home
+ The heat and air conditioning did not function well due to several past additions
Country Kitchen Features:
Cooking Kitchen – We created a larger kitchen by expanding into the old dining room. The homeowners needed more space for canning vegetables, cooking and entertaining.
Mid-Century Country Design – The ranch home was built in the 1950s so we kept the mid-century and country kitchen design aesthetic by using hickory wood, tall verticals and long horizontals.
Kitchen Window Seat – A custom window seat with a curved backrest creates a gathering spot in the kitchen. This connects the home to the outdoor view of the lake where the family fishes and ice skates in winter. The bench is large enough to be used as a guest bed when they have visitors. The cozy nook has shelving, art lights, and a hidden radiator underneath to keep it warm and toasty.
Window Backsplash – Along the range wall, a new window backsplash features the beautiful view of the farm driveway, trees and gardens.
Minimalistic Hood – The hood with the wood shelf mimics the new fireplace mantel and ties the country kitchen and living room together.
New Pantry – The old kitchen area was converted into the new pantry and a laundry room. The pantry is their working kitchen where they can store food, their wine collection, and have countertop space for small appliances. Butcher block countertops, colorful wallpaper and a new window make the pantry inviting. Adjustable shelves allow for flexible storage options. The pocket door can be closed when they have guests.
Recycled Ash Flooring in Kitchen – The homeowners chose an eco-friendly flooring for their country kitchen. The beautiful varied width wood planks are from recycled ash trees from Milwaukee parks.
Workstation Sink – This sink has sliding platforms that hold bowls, colanders and cutting boards to multiply the countertop by going deep instead of wide. The sink can be used to chop, rinse, prep, dry dishes, hold hot dishes and clean up after a meal more efficiently.
Country House Living Room:
New Tile Floor – To better conduct the heat, we replaced the old wood floors with porcelain tile. New radiators, insulation, ductwork, and enclosing the basement staircase improved the function of their HVAC.
Fireplace Makeover – To create a new focal point for the living room, we installed a new fire box, new mantle, and floor to ceiling stone. The goal was to draw the eye up to the vaulted beamed ceiling.
Open Concept Layout – The wall between the kitchen and living room was removed to connect the two spaces. We added new cabinetry along the wall with a tall bookcase. Since they didn’t use their formal dining room, a small dining table was added to the living room.
New Railing & Stairs – The staircase to the kitchen area was tricky because we needed to find a style that would make it feel airy. We did a glass enclosure with a simple metal railing and moved the staircase to the center of the room to allow room for the piano.

• Configured for miscellaneous items such as seasonal wear and small accessories.
• All are 7” tall, fitting perfectly on the top shelf of an 86” high closet, given an 8 ft ceiling.
• Provide your customer with quality boxes that coordinate and compliment the estheticof your closet design. They also collapse, allowing for efficient storage when not in use.

This laundry space was designed with storage, efficiency and highly functional to accommodate this large family. Hidden out of sight are 2 large roll out hampers, roll out trash, an ironing board tucked into a drawer and a trash receptacle roll out. Above the built in washer dryer units we have an area to hang items as we continue to do laundry and a pull out drying rack. No detail was missed in this dream laundry space.

A well-designed master closet with open shelves and built-in cabinets maximizes storage while maintaining an airy feel. The open shelves are ideal for displaying shoes, bags, or folded clothing, while designated hanging areas provide easy access to garments. Incorporating built-in cabinets aids in organizing smaller items and keeping the space clutter-free. This open closet design not only enhances functionality but also adds a contemporary touch to your master suite, making your daily routines more efficient and enjoyable. The white walls and closet storage makes the room feel much bigger. The oak wood flooring ties in very nice throughout this closet.

We have another veteran family with a more Soft and Moody taste wanting to completely renovate their very dated, non-efficient, half utilized kitchen in their cool and eclectic styled home. The new design had us moving the dishwasher, shifting the stove and fridge, and adding a whole new bank of cabinets with a custom depth pantry and 18” depth dry bar, while also expanding the island. We added to the whole plan with a pot filler and venting the hood up and out through the roof. For the new cabinets, they went with our Rider door style from our Kitchen Solvers Legacy Collection line. The perimeter cabinets were done in the American Walnut color while the island was done in Spruce. The contrast between the two colors looks amazing. Next, we added a stunning charcoal Hex elongated backsplash and a Blue Roma Quartzite countertop. To finish this stunning transformation, we added several storage solution items to help utilize every inch of their kitchen. Now our homeowners are back to cooking their gourmet meals from scratch and hosting parties again in their new kitchen!

A well-organized closet isn't complete without accessories that enhance its functionality and maximize available space. Some of the most sought-after additions include valet rods, which allow you to prepare your outfit for the next day by extending to fit any space and adjusting to your height and preferences. A tilt-out hamper is ideal for storing dirty clothes, ensuring your colored garments stay separate from whites. An integrated ironing board eliminates the hassle of setting up a traditional one, providing a convenient fold-out option right in your closet.
To simplify the organization of clothing accessories, tie and belt racks ensure your ties and belts are easy to find and neatly arranged. Drawer organizers keep items like socks separated and impeccably organized, making it effortless to locate what you need. A jewelry organizer is essential for safeguarding your collection, helping you categorize and keep track of all your pieces, streamlining the process of accessorizing when you dress. These accessories seamlessly integrate into a custom closet, enhancing its functionality and making everyday tasks more efficient.

A two-tone cabinet design sets the tone for this transitional kitchen design. The kitchen included a complete reconfiguration of the layout to improve the kitchen's efficiency, storage, and style. Echelon cabinetry with a dark wood island contrasting the gray-painted perimeter cabinets is accented by Richelieu hardware in antique nickel. A Blanco Ikon white farmhouse sink pairs with a Delta Essa arctic stainless faucet. Silestone countertops and a Zumpano Antic Brite Delicate Gray backsplash tie the color scheme together. A layered lighting scheme including Task Lighting undercabinet lights provide ample light for every occasion. Custom storage accessories transform the cabinetry into ideal storage solutions for every item required in a busy kitchen.

Caring for aging parents is both a joy and a challenge. The clients wanted to create a more aging-in-place friendly basement area for their mother. The existing kitchenette was more of a glorified bar and did not give her the option of cooking independently, and definitely not stylishly.
We re-configured the area so it was all open, with full kitchen capabilities. All appliances were selected to cater to the mother's limited reach, so all functional storage and product usage can be done without raising arms excessively.
Special storage solutions include a peg-system for a dish drawer, tiered silverware trays, a slide-up appliance garage, and pivoting pantry storage.
The cabinets also give ample display space for her collection of antique glassware.
In lieu of an island, we created a solid-surface top for a standard table so food can be prepped while sitting and without damaging the table top.
All items reflect the mother's tastes and existing furniture so she can truly feel like this basement is her space, while still being close to her son and daughter-in-law.

The layout of a kitchen is crucial when it comes to supporting a streamlined workflow. The work triangle is separated by key prep zones providing efficiency and protecting the chef. Thoughtfully planned cabinetry maximizes storage while maintaining clean sightlines, allowing everyday items to remain accessible without visual clutter.

Our NYC studio designed this gorgeous condo for a family of four with the goal of maximizing space in a modest amount of square footage. A custom sectional in the living room was created to accommodate the family without feeling overcrowded, while the son's bedroom features a custom Murphy bed to optimize space during the day. To fulfill the daughter's wish for fairy lighting, an entire wall of them was installed behind her bed, casting a beautiful glow at night. In the kitchen, we added plenty of cabinets below the island for maximum efficiency. Storage units were incorporated in the bedroom and living room to house the TV and showcase decorative items. Additionally, the tub in the powder room was removed to create an additional closet for much-needed storage space.

This fabulous, East Coast, shingle styled home is full of inspiring design details! The crisp clean details of a white painted kitchen are always in style! This captivating kitchen is replete with convenient banks of drawers keeping stored items within easy reach. The inset cabinetry is elegant and casual with its flat panel door style with a shiplap like center panel that coordinates with other shiplap features throughout the home. A large refrigerator and freezer anchor the space on both sides of the range, and blend seamlessly into the kitchen.
The spacious kitchen island invites family and friends to gather and make memories as you prepare meals. Conveniently located on each side of the sink are dual dishwashers, integrated into the cabinetry to ensure efficient clean-up.
Glass-fronted cabinetry, with a contrasting finished interior, showcases a collection of beautiful glassware.

A love for hosting gatherings motivated these homeowners to open up and rework their dimly lit kitchen. The kitchen was land-locked by surrounding rooms.
An island floor plan replaced the preexisting peninsula which allowed the casual seating to move out of the way of the traffic pattern. Cabinets custom painted Sherwin Williams Relaxed Khaki were double stacked floor to ceiling to increase storage. Glass-door top cabinets with LED lighting provided display space for decorative items. Cabinetry pantry space efficiently replaced the traditional closet pantry without sacrificing storage. Colonial Crème granite was used for the counters highlighted by a backsplash of ivory 3x6 travertine in a 45-degree herringbone pattern. LED under cabinet lights and an oversized lantern-style chandelier over the island added extra light and ambiance.

The All Things Barbecue outdoor kitchen team worked with our clients to create a smart, functional outdoor kitchen in an unused corner of the deck. The L-shape makes an efficient work zone. The powerful duo of American made grills - the Yoder Smokers YS640s built-in pellet grill and the Delta Heat built-in gas grill - gives the homeowner options for creating great food for family and friends. The pantry between the two cookers is sealed to keep out dust, water and bugs, so cooking tools, serving items and seasonings can be kept outside next to the grills.

Open shelving above the counter allows for display and easy access to frequently used items. The layout ensures efficient workflow and easy movement between the refrigerator, sink, and cooktop.

Rich and sophisticated are just a few words that easily describe this master bath. The Deep Aegean blue finish grounds the space with a sense of luxury, while the clean lines of the Edgemont recessed door style maintain a timeless, transitional appeal. The vanity area is enhanced with shelf valance lighting and a plush seating nook where a Custom Vanity Pull-Out provides convenient access to everyday items within arm’s reach, and roll-out storage drawers below keep fresh towels close at hand. Crown molding along the top and bottom of the cabinetry provides an elegant finishing touch, while toekick lighting creates ambiance and ease to see at night. Paired with the adjoining shower and tub clad in dark, textural tile, the design strikes a perfect balance between bold character and practical everyday usability, transforming the bathroom into a calming yet highly efficient retreat.
