At the core of this transformation was the client’s aspiration for an open, interconnected space. The removal of barriers between the kitchen, dining, and living areas created an expansive, fluid layout, elevating the home’s ambiance and facilitating seamless interaction among spaces. The new open layout is the perfect space to cook and entertain merging sophistication with functionality. The journey began with the client’s exploration of colors, eventually embracing Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy blue as the cornerstone for the cabinetry. This choice set the stage for a harmonious palette that tied in with the living and dining room furniture and rugs. Integrating a natural stone countertop became a focal point, incorporating these varied hues while gold fixtures added a touch of luxury and sophistication. Throughout the design process, challenges were met with innovative solutions. Space optimization was key, requiring strategic placement of appliances like a smaller-width refrigerator alongside a pull-out pantry cabinet. The island, a central feature, not only provided additional seating but replaced the need for a separate table and chairs, optimizing the space for gatherings and enhancing the flow between the kitchen and the adjoining areas. The revitalized kitchen now stands as a vibrant hub for social interaction. The homeowner seamlessly integrates into gatherings, no longer confined by kitchen walls, while guests engage effortlessly in the cooking process at the island. This transformation embodies the convergence of beauty and functionality, where every design element tells a story of thoughtful innovation and meticulous attention to detail.

This residence embodies the harmony of architecture and nature, where the journey to the front door becomes part of the living experience. A handcrafted wooden bridge spans the creek, guiding visitors into lush gardens framed by stone walls and layered plantings. Beyond, the adobe home—accented with turquoise details—opens its porches and windows to the landscape, creating a seamless connection between interior spaces and the surrounding environment. Designed with sensitivity to land, light, and daily life, the home reflects Gayla Bechtol Architect’s vision of architecture as both sanctuary and story. Wendy McEahern

NOBU CABO SAN LUCAS Located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, the new Nobu Los Cabos Resort is the embodiment of Japanese Mexican fusion. Opening up to expansive views of the ocean, interior and exterior spaces fuse together in seamless transition. Our role encompassed the design of the hotel interior and Nobu restaurant. As you approach the hotel, walls are clad in rough stone, providing a sense of Cabo’s native materials. As you journey through the hotel, you are introduced to smooth textures and warm hues of teak and ipe. A play of sun versus shade throughout the interior and exterior give the hotel a serene yet playful experience. Clean lines of Japanese design are seen in the designs of custom furniture pieces, wood soaking tubs, shoji inspired closet doors, and Japanese inspired lanterns and accessories. Spaces contain the heart of Cabo’s laid-back style through the use of color, rounded edges, geometric art pieces, and rough textures. The materials are simple yet rich in quality providing a luxurious and sensual ambiance to the hotel interior.

Craftsmanship Meets Innovation: Walnut Fronts with a Grooved Texture The design journey begins with the selection of Walnut Fronts, chosen for their natural beauty and enhanced by a distinctive grooved texture. This choice was intentional, aiming to bring warmth and depth into the kitchen space. The application of a special metallic lacquer introduces a subtle contrast, adding an extra layer of sophistication and elegance to the design. Functionality Redefined: The Honed Countertop Central to the design is the honed Countertop, featuring an island top that cleverly opens and closes. This element is not just a testament to beauty but also to functionality, offering versatility in kitchen use — whether for meal preparation or as an inviting space for gathering, or as a smart prep space with a hidden Bocchi Ceramic Sink. The Latest in Culinary Excellence: Gaggenau 200 Series Complementing the aesthetic elements are the Gaggenau 200 series appliances, a choice that reflects our commitment to integrating the latest in culinary technology. These appliances not only enhance the kitchen's functionality but also embody the cutting-edge design and innovation that our clients expect.
