An Eichler architectural style of a house that went through an entire house remodeling, where the kitchen area was designed to be open to the family room and living room areas. Therefore, it was important to design the kitchen to blend well with the other adjacent areas and give it a Furniture Look style so it is not necessary look like an ordinary kitchen. To make this transition between the areas, the kitchen design layout has the emphasis on detached areas within the kitchen area, so those elements stand alone and give the furniture look style to the entire kitchen area. The use of the door styles selected for the kitchen area helped to blend easily with the contemporary style of the house. The large state of the art kitchen was completely reconfigured in this renovation. We widened both doorways considerably and the family room is now very much a part of the kitchen area. Thermador and SubZero appliances are throughout the mostly white kitchen. A dark charcoal gray island and custom hood break up the white cabinetry. To the right, is a utility kitchen, laundry and pantry area.

The client wanted to create an elegant, upscale kosher kitchen with double cooking and cleaning areas. The custom cabinets are frameless, captured inset, and painted, with walnut drawer boxes. The refrigerator and matching buffets are also walnut. The main stove was custom painted as well as the hood and adjacent cabinets as a focal point. Brass faucets, hardware, mesh screens and hood trim add to the elegance. The ceiling treatment over the island and eating area combine wood details and wallpaper to complete the look. We continued this theme throughout the house.

Once an inefficient single story 1,000 square-foot ranch house with a forced air furnace, has been transformed into a two-story, solar powered 2500 square-foot three bedroom home ready for the next generation.
