This was a fascinating project for incredible clients. To optimize costs and timelines, our Montecito studio took the existing Craftsman style of the kitchen and transformed it into a more contemporary one. We reused the perimeter cabinets, repainted for a fresh look, and added new walnut cabinets for the island and the appliances wall. The solitary pendant for the kitchen island was the focal point of our design, leaving our clients with a beautiful and everlasting kitchen remodel. --- Project designed by Montecito interior designer Margarita Bravo. We took on the kitchen, two bathrooms and a powder room. The layout in the kitchen was functional for them, so we kept that pretty much as is. Our client wanted a contemporary-leaning transitional look — nice clean lines with a gray and white palette. Light gray cabinets with a slightly darker gray subway tile keep the northern exposure light and airy. They also purchased some new furniture for their breakfast room and adjoining family room, so the whole space looks completely styled and new. The light fixtures are staggered and give a nice rhythm to the otherwise serene feel. The homeowners were not 100% sold on the flooring choice for little powder room off the kitchen when I first showed it, but now they think it is one of the most interesting features of the design. I always try to “push” my clients a little bit because that’s when things can get really fun and this is what you are paying for after all, ideas that you may not come up with on your own. We also worked on the two upstairs bathrooms. We started first on the hall bath which was basically just in need of a face lift. The floor is porcelain tile made to look like carrera marble. The vanity is white Shaker doors fitted with a white quartz top. We re-glazed the cast iron tub. The master bath was a tub to shower conversion. We used a wood look porcelain plank on the main floor along with a Kohler Tailored vanity. The custom shower has a barn door shower door, and vinyl wallpaper in the sink area gives a rich textured look to the space. Overall, it’s a pretty sophisticated look for its smaller fooprint. Homeowner needed more light, more room, more style. We knocked out the wall between kitchen and dining room and replaced old window with a larger one. New stained cabinets, Soapstone countertops, and full-height tile backsplash turned this once inconvenient,d ark kitchen into an inviting and beautiful space. We relocated the refrigerator and applied cabinet panels. The new duel-fuel range provides the utmost in cooking options. A farm sink brings another appealing design element into the clean-up area. New lighting plan includes undercabinet lighting, recessed lighting in the dining room, and pendant light fixtures over the island. New wood flooring was woven in with existing to create a seamless expanse of beautiful hardwood. New wood beams were stained to match the floor bringing even more warmth and charm to this kitchen.

This kitchen is a prime example of beautifully designed functionality. From the spacious maple butcher block island & eating bar to the roll-up pass through window for outdoor entertaining, the space can handle whatever situation the owners throw at it. The Espresso stain on these Medallion cabinets of Cherry wood really anchors the whimsy of the yellow bar stools and the ginger-tone checkerboard Marmoleum floor. This country house was previously owned by Halle Berry and sits on a private lake north of Montreal. The kitchen was dated and a part of a large two storey extension which included a master bedroom and ensuite, two guest bedrooms, office, and gym.
