2. Bejeweled Kitchens The kitchen has long since become the heart of the home, and now designers are dressing it up accordingly. Kelly Wearstler and Stephen Gambrel are fitting out kitchens with elaborate custom cabinetry painted in rich gemstone colors, and accented with gleaming brass or chrome, all lit by unusual lighting fixtures. And companies such as Caesarstone and Antolini have devised composite surfaces that mimic malachite, agate, and other exotic semi-precious stones, perfect for dramatic countertops and backsplashes. Splashback Trends Make a stunning statement on your splashback by choosing the same stone used on your benchtop or island. This latest trend is seamless, easy maintenance and creates visual continuity. If budget is a consideration tiling the splashback opens up a multitude of colour and pattern options at an affordable price. Glass is still a favourite and also gives you the possibility of choosing an accent colour to add interest and style to your scheme.

Textured Surfaces Texture may have been something we're used to in living room trends and bedrooms for years, but it's only recently we've seen it incorporated into kitchens. Concrete and textured stone and tile finishes are all being used more often as kitchen materials The look is all about giving a kitchen depth, making it less about clean lines and hard surfaces and more about creating a layered look with different materials. We expect that in 2023 there will be excitement surrounding materials such as metallics, concrete and textured doors featuring heavy wood grains as well as marble-effect and stone finishes.

Pops of Color For the last few years, completely white kitchens were the hot trend in kitchen design. We’re happy to see that pops of color are starting to slowly emerge back into the kitchen space. Designers are adding color to backsplashes, cabinets and even kitchen islands!

Black Backsplashes & Countertops Black countertops and backsplashes add a touch of drama to a kitchen. In the kitchen shown here, the light cabinetry is given additional contrast when it is paired with a black countertop and kitchen backsplash. Put together, they create a seamless look and a backdrop for the gleaming tap and any decorative objects.

Meet Greige! Gray has enjoyed almost a decade in the spotlight, and like all trends, we’re noticing a subtle shift away from those stark gray tones. In this case, it’s an evolution of color, not a revolution of color. Enter: Greige.
