Mia Rao Design created a classic modern kitchen for this Chicago suburban remodel. The dark stain on the rift cut oak, slab style cabinets adds warmth and contrast against the white Calacatta porcelain. The large island and built-in breakfast nook allow for plenty of seating options

This Wedgewood stove is considered the Queen of the line. They started production in the late 1940's and this one is from about 1951. It has 4 burners, a large gas griddle, two ovens, and two broilers, as well as a collapsible shelf to hold your vintage salt & pepper collection. Custom hood surround made of drywall and oak moulding is designed to hold a piece of artwork, which can be swapped out for a change. This vintage oil still life of fruit looks perfect in a kitchen! Cabinet glass with chicken wire inset adds another vintage touch: from Olde Good Things in Downtown LA.

We decided on a retro look for our new kitchen with lots of display shelving, happy colors, laminate counters (no cracking!), a chubby old stove, period details and “linoleum” flooring.

DREAM HOME ALERT** This home was taken down to the studs and expanded from 4,000 to 8,000 Sq Ft. We reimagined it in our clients’ vision of a modern and comfortable oasis. It was nearly a three year project from start to finish. There are so many gorgeous rooms. This home isn’t afraid to be in the limelight. The bold checker board flooring in the entry makes a big statement. Chic décor throughout from the glamours chandelier, stunning dining room furniture and custom built in buffet cabinetry. The heart of the home is always the kitchen and this one is no exception. High contrast creates interest and depth in this transitional kitchen. This kitchen shows off natural quartzite slab taken to the ceiling with black and white display cabinetry and gold accents. The sophisticated primary suite is truly one of a kind with gorgeous crystal scones adorn with accents of black and gold. There was a large team of professionals that made this custom home come to life.
