This is the loft style bunk room for our clients two teenage sons. Our clients wanted a space for the kids to be able to hang out as well as host friends during the summer months. The bunk room sleeps 6 and there's even a hidden sliding divider between the 4 full beds and two queens to create two rooms out of one, and the dual sliding barn doors allow a private entrance to each room. The bunk beds are custom made from alder and carry the horizontal slat theme from the rest of the house. The barn doors are made out of reclaimed wood in a patchwork pattern by local artist Rob Payne. Photography by Marie-Dominique Verdier.

This house is nestled in the suburbs of Detroit. It is a 1950s two story brick colonial that was in major need of some updates. We kept all of the existing architectural features of this home including cove ceilings, wood floors moldings. I didn't want to take away the style of the home, I just wanted to update it. When I started, the floors were stained almost red, every room had a different color on the walls, and the kitchen and bathrooms hadn't been touched in decades. It was all out of date and out of style.
The formal living room is adjacent to the front door and foyer area. The picture window lets in a ton of natural light. The coves, frames and moldings are all painted a bright white with light gray paint on the walls. I kept and repainted the wood mantel, laid new gray ceramic tile in the hearth from Ann Sacks. This was a fun build and a delightful family to work and design with. The ladder is aesthetically pleasing and functional for their space, and also much safer than the previous loft access. The custom welded steel frame and alternating step support system combined with light colored, solid alder wood treads provide an open feel for the tight space.

This industrial loft features a few YesterTec unfitted Workstations that include a full range with two hidden ovens and the island sink workstation that has a storage piece on top to hide the mess from the dining area. The corner cupboard is a huge desk/pantry and the blond maple piece hides a complete laundry.

Hot tub - mediterranean courtyard custom-shaped hot tub idea in Miami

This NoHo apartment, in a landmarked circa 1870 building designed by Stephen Decatur Hatch and converted to lofts in 1987, had been interestingly renovated by a rock musician before being purchased by a young hedge fund manager and his gallery director girlfriend. Naturally, the couple brought to the project their collection of painting, photography and sculpture, mostly by young emerging artists. Axis Mundi accommodated these pieces within a neutral palette accented with occasional flashes of bright color that referenced the various artworks. Major furniture pieces – a sectional in the library, a 12-foot-long dining table–along with a rich blend of textures such as leather, linen, fur and warm woods, helped bring the sprawling dimensions of the loft down to human scale.
