The lights can be recessed or surface mounted. Recessed mounting is preferred. The lights are held in place by 2 metal clips that grip the inside of the mounting hole. Be sure to drill the exact size hole that the instructions call for. If it's too big, then there is nothing for the light to grip and someone has to pay for new cabinet.

When cutting the holes for the lights, we recommend using a new or freshly sharpened holesaw. The size for this particular light is 2-1/4 inches.

The layout of the holes for the lights is very important to achieve the desired effect. Centering on the glass door is recommended.

The benefits of this type of lighting are that they use very little electricity and they don't take away any of the usable cabinet space because the lights are recessed into the top of the cabinet. These are safer and use less electricity then the conventional halogen lighting used in the past. The pantry cabinet is a combination of a diplay cabinet above and a storage pantry below with enough space to mount the LED driver to power the diplay lighting. These LED fixtures use very little electricity. When dimmed, they use less than a standard "night light. Be sure to use an LED rated dimmer. The standard dimmers are not rated for the LED driver.
