The pecky cypress pergola adds durability, shade and charm to this adorable summer kitchen. The designers of Creative Construction re-purposed existing granite counters from the clients' interior and repeated the travertine up the sides of the kitchen, allowing for a seamless transition from the other areas of the courtyard to the BBQ nook.

In only a few short hours a new 20x20 arbor timber frame pergola kit is installed with extended roof over the back patio for additional shade for backyard family time. These are durable strong timbers built with the old world dovetail mortise and tenon system to last for generations and stand up through strong winds and heavy mountainous snows.

This VIP Design Day project transformed two key spaces in a DC-area home — a dining room and powder room — into rooms that feel both curated and livable. The dining room balances warm walnut tones, mixed seating, and bold artwork against moody gray walls and classic wainscoting, creating a space that's elegant without being precious. The powder room makes a strong first impression with floor-to-ceiling botanical wallpaper, a navy reeded vanity, Calacatta marble countertop, and antique brass fixtures layered with vintage equestrian art.

This house, built in the 1960s, sits southfacing on a terrific wooded lot in Bethesda, Maryland.
The owners desire a whole-house renovation which would improve the general building fabric and systems, and extend the sense of living out of doors in all seasons.
The original sixties-modern character is preserved and the renovation extends the design forward into a contemporary, modern approach. Connections to and through the site are enhanced through the creation of new larger window and door openings.
Screened porches and decks perch above the sloped and wooded site. The new kitchen and bathrooms allow for opportunities to feel out-of -doors while preparing, cooking, dining, and bathing.
Smart passive strategies guide the environmental choices for this project, including envelope improvements, updated mechanical systems, and on-site stormwater management.

The kitchen is an exercise in scale and material precision—a 1.5 height soaring volume with clerestory windows is wrapped in rich, warm wood, creating a monumental space. The cabinetry, seamless and monolithic, extends upward, emphasizing verticality while maintaining a sense of warmth and tactility
The bar is a sculptural extension of the kitchen’s form that anchors the space. Crafted from the same warm tones, its clean lines and generous proportions offer both function and presence.
