The design inspiration for this daylight basement turned guest quarters was a fusion of urban edge and a deep sea palette. Furniture was reclaimed and re-purposed in a fresh way and unexpected art was added to create visual interest. A custom mixed teal wall color creates an underwater feeling while the wood slice art adds warmth to the living area. The Barracuda art in the hallway to the bedroom was inspired by the families passion for sea diving. We worked with an etsy artist who created barracuda line drawings which we framed and wall mounted in a 'fish school' formation. The citron painted frames make the black and white drawings pop! Over the bed, we framed black fan coral in crisp white frames. The effect is delicate and artful. A basement turned guest quarters filled with sea inspired personality! Bring on the guests!

The design goals for this master bedroom centered on creating a sophisticated retreat for the homeowner. Soft grays and rich textures were selected to create a sense of warmth and depth in the space. The feature wall behind the bed is wrapped in a Philip Jeffries Leo Luxe Linen which shimmers in the natural light. A mirrored storage chest, luxurious Madeline Weinrib area rug and light filtering window sheers add a sense of softness and romance to the room. The ikat upholstered lounge chair and ottoman offer a place to curl up and read or to enjoy the wall mounted television. The homeowners passion for all things John Robshaw inspired the unique collection of block printed Robshaw fabrics in crisp white wall frames. The combination of warm colors, rich textures and unique artwork create a sophisticated chic bedroom retreat that welcomes the homeowner at the end of each day!

The classic modern design of this kitchen was planned for an active young family of four who uses the space as their central hub for gathering, eating and staying connected. Our goals were to create a beautiful and highly functional kitchen with an emphasis on cabinet organization, heated floors and incorporating a live edge slab countertop. We removed an existing bulky island and replaced it with a new island that while only 60 x 26 in size packs a powerful punch housing a baking center, trash/recycle center, microwave oven and cookbook storage. The island seemed the natural place for the gorgeous live edge slab coupled with vintage mercury glass light pendants that make for a truly stunning kitchen island. Polished carrara quartz perimeter counters pair beautifully with the watery blue-green glass backsplash tile. A message center conveniently located on a side panel of the refrigerator cabinet houses built in mailboxes, a family calendar and magnetic surface to display the children’s artwork. We are pleased to have met the family’s goals and that they love their kitchen. Design mission accomplished!

This tranquil Seattle home sits high on a hill with a lovely view in the Queen Anne neighborhood. The delightful family of four needed help filling the living spaces with furnishings that would be cozy, comfortable and work beautifully with the classic aesthetic of the home. Together we choose swivel chairs to maximize both conversation and the view, a nap worthy sofa in a lovely shade of blue and a cocktail table that is easy to move when the kids need an open space but also serves as an excellent place to play games and build puzzles. A soft and colorful rug, bold patterned drapery and a splash of accessories and accent furnishings were layered in to complete the room. The powder room received a rich new paint color to highlight some beloved family artwork and a decorative ladder was installed to add visual interest and provide a much-needed storage place for hand towels. The entry was lacking storage which we remedied with custom designed and built shoe storage benches. An easy to care for indoor/outdoor rug was added to protect the floor and provide a layer of texture to the room. The new cozy space now serves in function when entering the home plus is a great curl up place to enjoy the view while reading a good book!

This kitchen transformation began with a dream for a light and bright kitchen that functions beautifully in a classic style that will never feel tired or dated. The homeowners never looked back as we tore out the old red linoleum floor and the wall that separated the kitchen from the dining area. A door connecting the kitchen to the bedroom corridor was closed off to maximize the counter and storage space and a new door was added to an adjacent office/guest bedroom to provide easy access to the kitchen. Snow white cabinets, white marble quartz and glossy white ceramic backsplash tile was paired with warm woods and revere pewter walls to create a bright yet inviting space. Deep drawers were chosen for plate and glassware storage. Trash and heavy duty butcher block cutting board rollouts offer convenience. A built in floor to ceiling pantry includes rollout drawers for easy access to dry food storage. An island microwave makes the task of quickly heating food accessible to even the youngest family members. Our favorite details include a gorgeous live edge buffet counter, cozy built-in eating nook with an heirloom dining table and a budget friendly dining nook pendant with a custom diffuser and cord added by a local light lighting shop. The best part about this kitchen transformation was seeing the joy on the family’s faces when it was complete! This kitchen will be cherished for years and years to come!

The design dilemma: Develop a privacy solution, for a charming glass panel front door and sidelights, that is both beautiful and functional. The solution occurred in two parts. First, we added fully closing drapery panels that offer privacy for the family while inside their home. We used a sheer fabric that allows light to pass through but obscures the view from the outside. This solved the privacy needs while inside the home. However, the drapery can not be fully closed when the family is away from their home. Which leads us to the second part of our design solution. We fabricated a custom flat panel sheer that can easily be added or removed when the family leaves the home. The sheer fabric was doubled and acts similarly to the drapery in that it allows light to pass through but obscures the view from the outside. Clear, 3M brand removable hooks were attached to the door and the grommet heading fabric panel easily attaches to the hooks. The result is both beautiful and functional!
