A pair of world travelers with a deep love of Japan asked JMMDS to design a Japanese-inspired landscape that would complement the contemporary renovation of their home in Edinburgh, Scotland. JMMDS created a plan that included a handsome cut-stone patio, meandering stepping stone paths, sweeping bed lines, stony mounds, a grassy pool of space, and swaths of elegant plantings. JMMDS was on site during the installation to craft the mounds and place the plants and stones. Julie Moir Messervy set out the ancient pieces of gneiss from Scotland’s Isle of Lewis. With the planting design, JMMDS sought to evoke the feeling of a traditional Japanese garden using locally suitable plants. The designers and clients visited nurseries in search of distinctive plant specimens, including cloud-pruned hollies, craggy pines, Japanese maples of varied color and habit, and a particularly notable Japanese snowbell tree. Beneath these, they laid drifts of sedges, hellebores, European gingers, ferns, and Solomon’s Seal. Evergreen azaleas, juniper, rhododendrons, and hebe were clustered around the lawn. JMMDS placed bamboos within root-controlled patio beds and planted mondo grass, sedums, and mosses among the stepping stones. Inspiration for a contemporary living room remodel in Austin

This West University Master Bathroom remodel was quite the challenge. Our design team rework the walls in the space along with a structural engineer to create a more even flow. In the begging you had to walk through the study off master to get to the wet room. We recreated the space to have a unique modern look. The custom vanity is made from Tree Frog Veneers with countertops featuring a waterfall edge. We suspended overlapping circular mirrors with a tiled modular frame. The tile is from our beloved Porcelanosa right here in Houston. The large wall tiles completely cover the walls from floor to ceiling . The freestanding shower/bathtub combination features a curbless shower floor along with a linear drain. We cut the wood tile down into smaller strips to give it a teak mat affect. The wet room has a wall-mount toilet with washlet. The bathroom also has other favorable features, we turned the small study off the space into a wine / coffee bar with a pull out refrigerator drawer.

The priorities for this master bath remodel included an increased shower area, room for a dresser/clothes storage & the introduction of some sustainable materials. A custom built-in was created to house all of the husband’s clothes and was tucked neatly into the space formerly occupied by the shower. A local fabricator created countertops using concrete and recycled glass. The big, boxy tub, a floor model bought at an extreme discount, is the focal point of the room. Many of the other lines in the room echo its geometric and modern clean lines. The end result is a crisp, clean aesthetic that feels spacious and is filled with light.

My team took a fresh approach to traditional style in this home. Inspired by fresh cut blossoms and a crisp palette, we transformed the space with airy elegance. Exquisite natural stones and antique silhouettes coupled with chalky white hues created an understated elegance as romantic as a love poem.

This modern bathroom design in Cohasset is a striking, stylish room with a Tedd Wood Luxury Line Cabinetry Monticello door style vanity in a vibrant blue finish with black glaze that includes both open and closed storage. The cabinet finish is beautifully contrasted by an Alleanza Calacatta Bettogli polished countertop, with the sills, built in shower bench and back splash all using the same material supplied by Boston Bluestone. Atlas Hardwares Elizabeth Collection in warm brass is the perfect hardware to complement the blue cabinetry in this vibrant bathroom remodel, along with the Kate & Laurel Minuette 24 x 36 mirror in gold and Mitzi Anya wall sconces in brass. The tile selections from MSI are both a practical and stylish element of this design with Dymo Stripe White 12 x 24 glossy tile on the shower walls, Bianco Dolomite Pinwheel polished tile for the niche, and Georama Grigio polished tile for the shower floor. The bathroom floor is Bianco Dolomite 12 x 24 polished tile. Every element of this bathroom design works together to create a stunning, vibrant space.
