Nestled in a wooded area in the Pacific Northwest, the 1800 sf Passive Cedar Haus was built as a retirement home. The Artisans Group designed the layout of the home, mindful of aging in place, and working to ensure that the home blended in with the surrounding natural beauty. The project meets a complex program, with an unheated sleeping porch for a master bedroom, a screened porch, a 600 sf caretakers apartment/mother in law unit, large wood shop, plus a two car carport. The home seamlessly integrates a floating cedar tongue and groove roof with large sheltering overhangs, clerestory windows, and language of cedar slats for privacy screens and doors inside and out. The warm, natural materials of wood and cork for the interior palette are punctuated by lively accents and stunning fixtures. This ultra energy efficient home relies on extremely high levels of insulation, air-tight detailing and construction, and the implementation of high performance, custom made European windows and doors by Zola Windows. Zola’s ThermoPlus Clad line, which boasts R-11 triple glazing and is thermally broken with a layer of patented German Purenit®, was selected for the project. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the main living area, gives an expansive view of the surrounding Northwest forest. The tops of these windows reveal the interior cedar clad and the up-swept soffits on the home’s exterior, creating a floating ceiling effect. Slatted spruce wood fly-overs break up the vertical areas of the great room and define separate areas that would otherwise feel like an overwhelmingly expansive space. The flooring is composed of a terrazzo-style tile that complements the natural wood cabinetry and adds subtle texture to the space. The wood-paneled ceiling continues the natural elements seen throughout the home, bringing warmth and a cohesive design language from other rooms. The entire space is accented with modern fixtures, such as the floating vanity with under-cabinet lighting that creates a soft, glowing ambiance. These subtle design elements enhance the overall feeling of calm and relaxation, perfect for unwinding after a long day.

The Whistle Hill Residence anchors a ten home modern development and introduces a refined contemporary language to the region. Clean lines, controlled massing, and expansive glazing allow the home to sit confidently within its wooded site while maintaining sensitivity to the natural landscape. Strategic elevation changes and selective steel framing create open spans and cantilevered forms without sacrificing envelope performance. Below grade, the design integrates a full wellness program—including a massage room, sauna, and locker area—supported by multi-zone mechanical controls, advanced vapor management, and acoustically isolated assemblies. The level also features a recreation area with a mini bar, poker lounge, and substantial built-in storage, all finished to create a warm, spa-like environment. On the main level, the open kitchen and living area transition seamlessly to a protected patio with retractable screens and high-performance sliders, enabling year-round indoor–outdoor living. A private master wing includes dual closets, an electric fireplace, an oversized walk-in shower, and a secluded patio. Supporting spaces such as the office with custom millwork, walk-in pantry, and mudroom with laundry are integrated along a clear circulation spine. The upper floors continue the home’s emphasis on clarity and light. Two third-floor bedrooms with walk-in closets share a spacious bath, while the rooftop level offers more than 1,500 square feet of engineered outdoor living space with sweeping woodland views and direct access to a greenhouse. With its performance-driven detailing, thoughtful spatial organization, and modern architectural expression, the Whistle Hill Residence establishes a new benchmark for contemporary residential design in the area. This was a 7/8 tear-down and build new. Which means the homeowner wanted to keep the Master suite which was constructed a few years ago, but tear down the rest. The lot is terraced and on the lower level is an outdoor pool with many plantings around it and a poolhouse. The owners wanted the house to use similar language as the existing pool house. Recessed Architectural Niche: A signature detail of our custom builds is the integrated shampoo niche. Note the precision mitered edges and the mosaic tile backset, which provides a subtle textural contrast to the smooth field tile while offering durable, high-end functionality. Professional Oil-Rubbed Fixtures: The dark, high-contrast hardware provides a bold architectural accent against the grey-toned stone. This high-flow showerhead and pressure-balanced valve system are engineered for long-term reliability in a busy family home. Textural Balance: The cool, organic tones of the masonry are warmed by the surrounding Knotty Alder casings, creating a cohesive design language that ties this suite into the rest of the home's "Mountain Modern" aesthetic. Heavy-Duty Frameless Glass: To keep the focus on the intricate tile work and the recessed niche, we utilized a custom-cut, heavy-gauge frameless glass enclosure, ensuring the space feels open and high-end.

This project provides a new two-story addition to an historic converted stable barn that was once associated with the 60-acre Hamilton Estate in Irvington, New York. The new design continues the unique language of the converted brick stable and Second Empire slate mansard roof. The addition provides a proper kitchen to the ground floor. Large single-pane glass windows continue the existing architecture to maximize interior natural light and provide panoramic views of the adjacent Hudson River. The kitchen features reclaimed cherry custom cabinets, white marble countertops and new oak hardwood flooring. On the second floor, the addition expands the master bedroom to include an ensuite bathroom and changing room. The second floor features reclaimed pine floors, and white Turkish marble bathroom tiles.

The Blanc Home Nestled in the heart of Mumbai, this 660 sq.ft. residence designed by Studio Dhi is a seamless blend of modern elegance and everyday comfort. The interiors embrace a soft, muted palette enriched with textures, prints, and pops of colour. Pool Bathroom – Harmonized Tilework with Thoughtful Contrast This view of the pool bathroom showcases the perfect balance between texture, material, and layout. We installed multiple types of tile on the walls — from floor to ceiling — creating contrast and visual depth without disrupting flow. The flooring throughout, including the shower, was carefully planned to ensure a seamless connection between the main floor and the cobblestone shower base. Every surface, from the floating vanity wall to the area behind the toilet, reflects a perfect match of tones and finishes — proof that even the most diverse materials can speak the same design language when installed with precision.
