From this central orientation point, one begins to perceive the magic and mystery yet to be revealed in the undulating spatial volumes, spiraling out in several directions.
Ahead is the kitchen and breakfast room, to the right are the Children's Bedroom Wing and the 'ocotillo stairs' to Master Bedroom upstairs. Venture left down the gentle ramp that follows along the gurgling water stream and meander past the bar and billiards, or on towards the main living room.
The entire ceiling areas are a brilliant series of overlapping smoothly curved plaster and steel framed layers, separated by translucent poly-carbonate panels.
This combats the intense summer heat and light, but carefully allows indirect natural daylight to gently sift through the deep interior of this unique desert home.
Wandering through the organic curves of this home eventually leads you to another gentle ramp leading to the very private and secluded Meditation Room,
entered through a double shoji door and sporting a supple leather floor radiating around a large circular glass Floor Window. Here is the ideal place to sit and meditate while seeming to hover over the colorful reflecting koi pool just below. The glass meditation room walls slide open, revealing a special desert garden, while at night the gurgling water reflects dancing lights up through the glass floor into this lovely Zen Zone.

This property falls withing the City Of Scottsdale Natural Area Open Space area so special attention was required for this sensitive desert land project.
Design Group ThreeLazy summer days at a beautiful lakefront setting in Waukesha County motivated this homeowner to take on a complete rebuild. The original home was removed to the foundation. The footprint was expanded and re-built in a classic shingled cottage style. As a summer residence that often includes weekend guests, the plan includes (3) private guest suites (each with its own bath), a new master suite and a large great room with a loft. The project included a complete face-lift of the existing boathouse.

Green Owl DesignThis jungle themed residence embodies the beautiful animal and plant wildlife that has become a primary draw for Orlando’s residents and travelers. With Disney’s Animal Kingdom only a few miles from the complex, the incorporation of a zebrawood pattern at the entry, a canopy creatures master bedroom mural backdrop, and a royal blue shrub wallpapered guest room effectively highlight the enchanted resort and the magic of nature conclusively. Grounding hues of navy and turquoise serve to connect each of the divided prints into one singular motif, and natural finishes give a final nod to life’s sustaining habitat.

Amethyst HomeThis fall, Amethyst had the opportunity to partner with Freeman Custom Homes of Kansas City to furnish this 5000 sq ft European Modern designed home for the Artisan Home Tour 2020!
Every square inch of this home was magical -- from the secret staircase in the master bath leading to a private shuttered plunge pool to the vaulted kitchen with sky high mushroom colored cabinetry and handmade zellige tile.
We met the builders during the cabinetry phase and watching their final, thoughtful design details evolve was such full of over-the-top surprises like the unique valet-like storage in the entry and limestone fireplace!
As soon as we saw their vision for the home, we knew our furnishings would be a great match as our design style celebrates handmade rugs, artisan handmade custom seating, old-meets-new art, and let's be honest -- we love to go big! They trusted us to do our thing on the entire main level and we enjoyed every minute.
The load in took 3 full trucks and fortunately for us -- the homeowners fell in love with several pieces so our uninstall trip was significantly lighter. I think we were all a little emotional leaving this masterpiece but sooooo happy for the owners and just hoping we get invited to a Christmas party...
Here are some of the highlights -- 90% of the furnishings and rugs were from our shop and we filled in the gaps with some extra special pieces!

We faced a challenge to design a room that would both provide privacy to guests while maintaining the sweeping city views when the room isn't occupied. We solved this by designing walls of switchable glass panels. Each glass wall can change appearance with the flip of a switch - transparent to enjoy the view, milky white and opaque for privacy.
Throughout the apartment, custom wood millwork covers the window HVAC units in each room, turning the corner in the master bedroom to morph into an integrated his/hers closet, TV console, and desk.

Decorations LucullusPart mirage, part miracle - this masterful modern evocation is in the best Louisiana vernacular tradition. It was conceived by architect Kevin Gossen (Gossen Architects Lafayette, Louisiana) for an unusual piece of property in Metairie whose cheated landscape gives the illusion of open country spaces. He has created a “cottage” that already looks as if it might be a survivor from a couple of centuries ago.
Using reclaimed building materials, magnificent beams, beautiful old flooring with classically scaled rooms, it was a perfect project for Decorations Lucullus.
Both architect and interior designers admit the real magic rested with the client whose highly developed aesthetic and extensive experience in design gave the process amazing vitality.
Conceived as a “résidence secondaire” to be near grandchildren, she wanted something more snug than her large primary house out of town but without sacrificing the qualities of charm or elegance.
While the project is still evolving, she can’t repress a smile when some passer-by stops to chat over the rose-heavy iron fence, perhaps peering into the gracious side hall, asking how this old house has managed to survive all the changes in the neighborhood.
