This primary bathroom was transformed from an underused, inefficient space into a luxurious retreat designed for everyday wellness. The homeowners wanted the feeling of a dark, relaxing, moody resort with the function of a private spa. Their favorite features of the new space include the steam shower, dual shower heads, sauna, cold plunge, benches, warm wood details, dramatic tile, and thoughtful lighting. Our design-build team guided the project from design through completed construction, creating a cohesive space that flows beautifully with the bedroom. The result is a high-performing wellness suite that the homeowners now use and enjoy daily.

Sedona is home to people from around the world because of it's beautiful red rock mountain scenery, high desert climate, good weather and diverse community. Most residents have made a conscience choice to be here. Good buildable land is scarce so may people purchase older homes and update them in style and performance before moving in. The industry often calls these project "whole house remodels". This home was originally built in the 70's and is located in a prestigious neighborhood beautiful views that overlook mountains and City of Sedona. It was in need of a total makeover, inside and out. The exterior of the home was transformed by removing the outdated wood and brick cladding and replacing it stucco and stone. The roof was repaired to extend it life. Windows were replaced with an energy efficient wood clad system. Every room of the home was preplanned and remodeled to make it flow better for a modern lifestyle. A guest suite was added to the back of the existing garage to make a total of three guest suites and a master bedroom suite. The existing enclosed kitchen was opened up to create a true "great room" with access to the deck and the views. The windows and doors to the view were raised up to capture more light and scenery. An outdated brick fireplace was covered with mahogany panels and porcelain tiles to update the style. All floors were replaced with durable ceramic flooring. Outdated plumbing, appliances, lighting fixtures, cabinets and hand rails were replaced. The home was completely refurnished and decorated by the home owner in a style the fits the architectural intent. The scope for a "whole house remodel" is much like the design of a custom home. It takes a full team of professionals to do it properly. The home owners have a second home out of state and split their time away. They were able to assemble a team that included Sustainable Sedona Residentail Design, Biermann Construction as the General Contractor, a landscape designer, and structural engineer to take charge in thier absence. The collaboration worked well!

This redesign transformed the main living level into a thoughtful blend of comfort, sophistication, and functionality. Each space was curated with custom details, refined finishes, and bold design statements that elevate the everyday. Breakfast Room The breakfast room was reimagined as a cozy yet elevated gathering spot. A tinted glass expandable table anchors the space, offering both style and versatility for daily meals or larger gatherings. A custom-built nook features cabinetry and floating shelves backed with a faux wall treatment wallpaper, creating a textured backdrop that doubles as both storage and display. Performance fabric chairs not only add a touch of elegance but also stand up beautifully to everyday use. Living Space In the living area, style and comfort work hand in hand. Designer-grade occasional tables and a plush new sofa with chaise set the tone, while an oversized canvas-framed painting becomes the artful focal point behind the seating. To frame the room, a wall of sheer gold curtains enhances natural light and provides a shimmering backdrop for two round LED chandeliers that float dramatically at the center of the space. A 65” TV now sits atop a sleek walnut media stand, flanked by six floating shelves for both balance and display. Patterned side chairs and a light-colored area rug add visual contrast, ensuring the neutral, monochromatic palette feels layered and dynamic. Primary Bedroom The primary bedroom was transformed into a serene yet statement-making retreat. A geometric-patterned rug grounds the space, while beige grasscloth wallpaper adds warmth and texture to the walls. To enhance depth, the ceiling coffers were painted in Sherwin Williams’ Iron Ore in a flat finish—a bold, moody choice that sets off the lighter tones below. Two chandeliers were hung at different heights to create a sense of visual intrigue, complementing the dark round nightstands and dresser. The king-sized bed, upholstered in beige, becomes the anchor point, softened by layered design essentials: a round mirror, button art, and criss-cross mirrors above the nightstands. The result is a bedroom that feels both polished and inviting, balancing modern lines with timeless details.

Our client purchased what had been a custom home built in 1973 on a high bank waterfront lot. They did their due diligence with respect to the septic system, well and the existing underground fuel tank but little did they know, they had purchased a house that would fit into the Three Little Pigs Story book. The original idea was to do a thorough cosmetic remodel to bring the home up to date using all high durability/low maintenance materials and provide the homeowners with a flexible floor plan that would allow them to live in the home for as long as they chose to, not how long the home would allow them to stay safely. However, there was one structure element that had to change, the staircase. The staircase blocked the beautiful water/mountain few from the kitchen and part of the dining room. It also bisected the second-floor master suite creating a maze of small dysfunctional rooms with a very narrow (and unsafe) top stair landing. In the process of redesigning the stairs and reviewing replacement options for the 1972 custom milled one inch thick cupped and cracked cedar siding, it was discovered that the house had no seismic support and that the dining/family room/hot tub room and been a poorly constructed addition and required significant structural reinforcement. It should be noted that it is not uncommon for this home to be subjected to 60-100 mile an hour winds and that the geographic area is in a known earthquake zone. Once the structural engineering was complete, the redesign of the home became an open pallet. The homeowners top requests included: no additional square footage, accessibility, high durability/low maintenance materials, high performance mechanicals and appliances, water and energy efficient fixtures and equipment and improved lighting incorporated into: two master suites (one upstairs and one downstairs), a healthy kitchen (appliances that preserve fresh food nutrients and materials that minimize bacterial growth), accessible bathing and toileting, functionally designed closets and storage, a multi-purpose laundry room, an exercise room, a functionally designed home office, a catio (second floor balcony on the front of the home), with an exterior that was not just code compliant but beautiful and easy to maintain. All of this was achieved and more. The finished project speaks for itself.

This client had major ice-dam last year due to roof design, so we demo existing dormer and we redid the entire dormer with new roof line, we also relocated all the fixtures inside bathroom. The project was performed in 5 weeks as promised to client.

This "Palatial Villa" is an architectural statement, amidst a sprawling country setting. An elegant, modern revival of the Spanish Tudor style, the high-contrast white stucco and black details pop against the natural backdrop. Round and segmental arches lend an air of European antiquity, and fenestrations are placed providently, to capture picturesque views for the occupants. Massive glass sliding doors and modern high-performance, low-e windows, bathe the interior with natural light and at the same time increase efficiency, with the highest-rated air-leakage and water-penetration resistance. Inside, the lofty ceilings, rustic beam detailing, and wide-open floor-plan inspire a vast feel. Patterned repetition of dark wood and iron elements unify the interior design, creating a dynamic contrast with the white, plaster faux-finish walls.
