Perched above High Park, this family home is a crisp and clean breath of fresh air! Lovingly designed by the homeowner to evoke a warm and inviting country feel, the interior of this home required a full renovation from the basement right up to the third floor with rooftop deck. Upon arriving, you are greeted with a generous entry and elegant dining space, complemented by a sitting area, wrapped in a bay window.
Central to the success of this home is a welcoming oak/white kitchen and living space facing the backyard. The windows across the back of the house shower the main floor in daylight, while the use of oak beams adds to the impact. Throughout the house, floor to ceiling millwork serves to keep all spaces open and enhance flow from one room to another.
The use of clever millwork continues on the second floor with the highly functional laundry room and customized closets for the children’s bedrooms. The third floor includes extensive millwork, a wood-clad master bedroom wall and an elegant ensuite. A walk out rooftop deck overlooking the backyard and canopy of trees complements the space. Design elements include the use of white, black, wood and warm metals. Brass accents are used on the interior, while a copper eaves serves to elevate the exterior finishes.

Major renovation including 4 additions, completely new inside and out, new accessory building, complete landscape overhaul.
This project started with the approval of 6 minor variances in order to accommodate the new plan & accessory building. Working with our exceptional clients, we were able to successfully complete this major transformation both inside and out. This year-round, waterfront oasis will be enjoyed by family and friends for years to come.

The clients bought a new construction house in Bay Head, NJ with an architectural style that was very traditional and quite formal, not beachy. For our design process I created the story that the house was owned by a successful ship captain who had traveled the world and brought back furniture and artifacts for his home. The furniture choices were mainly based on English style pieces and then we incorporated a lot of accessories from Asia and Africa. The only nod we really made to “beachy” style was to do some art with beach scenes and/or bathing beauties (original painting in the study) (vintage series of black and white photos of 1940’s bathing scenes, not shown) ,the pillow fabric in the family room has pictures of fish on it , the wallpaper in the study is actually sand dollars and we did a seagull wallpaper in the downstairs bath (not shown).

This bathroom was designed for newlyweds who recently bought a home in the heart of Los Angeles. We completely remodeled the bathroom adding a freestanding bathtub and upgrading the corner shower. The vanity and black fixtures were chosen to create the perfect modern bathroom design. The newlyweds were extremely excited to start spending time soaking in their new tub. We are proud of another successful project!

It's all in the Details...accessorizing the home to reflect the Owners personality was key for the success of the project.

Nothing better than natural wood veneer Ebony with a custom stain finish to add personality to this piece. The detail of the custom slats together with the stone generate a beautiful depth effect that is even better appreciated with the LED light detail.
Finally, the green velvet armchair and the golden decorative elements complete the success in this room, don't you think?

The client's purchased an 80's condo unit of the 4th floor.
The main goal(s): To create a space suitable for aging-in-place and to successfully incorporate pre-existing furniture and decor from the client's previous home.
The challenges:
- To be able to fully incorporate existing furniture into a smaller space, as the client's had down-sized by moving into a condo unit.
- Creating and providing a wide range of accessibility and universal design to accommodate certain health issues of one of the clients.
Inspiration: Existing arches throughout the home.

NZIA Awards 2016 – Pearson Bach
Pearson Bach is located in the alpine village of St Arnaud. Being the gateway to the Nelson Lakes area, it is a place of compelling natural beauty comprising mountains, lakes and beech forest. The site is elevated and steep, with a north-south orientation. To the south are expansive views over Lake Rotoiti and the mountains, and to the north, kanuka and manuka trees.
The steep cut at the front of the site presented a challenge for establishing access up to the bach. The boatshed is located at the base of the site with landscaped steps, boulders and tussock forming the ascent to the house. The design comprises a central sun court nestled between a bedroom wing at the rear and a living/master bedroom wing at the front. The two wings are connected by a gallery space, with a view into the courtyard and rugged landscape beyond. These separate wings with their mono-pitched roof forms echo the gradient of the site.
A striking orthogonal front elevation of pre-weathered steel provides a visual contrast to the dark stained board and batten cladding used elsewhere. Inside, the material palette is light and warm – natural cedar, cork flooring and natural timber veneer joinery. A feature raked cedar ceiling in the snug and master bedroom creates a sense of intimacy and frames the view, while a high-level cedar volume over the kitchen directs the gaze upwards.
Pearson Bach is a thoughtful response to the climate, site and clients. The layering of textures, spaces and views has resulted in a successful outcome that the clients enjoy in all seasons. The bach has a sculptural quality and a strong architectural presence which references the sloping mountains and distinct landscape of St Arnaud. It was a National Winner in the Master Builder House of the Year Awards.

This completed apartment renovation project has transformed an outdated space into a modern and functional living environment, with extensive upgrades to the kitchen, bathroom, flooring, and walls. The design focuses on maximizing space, enhancing functionality, and introducing a contemporary aesthetic throughout the apartment.
In the kitchen, the space was completely reimagined with sleek custom cabinetry, premium countertops, and high-end appliances. The layout was optimized for both efficiency and style, featuring an island for additional workspace and seating. The backsplash adds a pop of color and texture, complementing the modern finishes while creating a welcoming atmosphere for cooking and entertaining.
The bathroom was renovated into a spa-like retreat, featuring a beautifully tiled shower, a new vanity with elegant fixtures, and updated lighting. Luxurious finishes, including quartz countertops and modern tile patterns, give the space a polished, serene look, perfect for relaxation and comfort.
The flooring throughout the apartment was updated with high-quality, durable materials such as hardwood or tile, providing a cohesive flow between spaces and elevating the overall look of the home. The new floors are both aesthetically pleasing and easy to maintain.
The walls were refreshed with fresh paint and, in some areas, textured treatments or feature walls, adding depth and interest to the rooms. The design focuses on light, neutral tones, creating a sense of openness and brightness while allowing the space to feel warm and inviting.
This renovation has successfully modernized the apartment, creating a stylish and comfortable living environment that is both functional and beautiful.

Nancy Knickerbocker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Southern Pines, NC designed a primary bathroom featuring Merillat Masterpiece cabinetry’s Gannon door style in Evercore with a Moonshine finish.
Selections for bathroom include Silestone Quartz in a Pearl Jasmine finish vanity countertops along with fixtures and accessories from Kohler and Moen.
The shower features 12x24 and 2x2 Bakersfield Pumice floor tile, shower floor tile and 10x12 Bianco shower wall tile.
The client emphasized Nancy's pivotal role in the remodel's success. "She was respectful of our budget, our needs (more handicap-friendly and storage space, fewer doors) and was knowledgeable about what was and wasn’t doable in our situation. Her excellent design suggestions took into consideration our choices for cabinets, fixtures, countertops, flooring and etc. She was interested and always available to help throughout the entire project," said the client.
Nancy highlighted the bathroom's outdated features from the era of the garden tub. "The homeowner wanted to add storage, enlarge the shower and overall update the bathroom. By removing the tub, we added a cabinet with two roll-out shelves, a trash cabinet, and laundry hamper cabinet. Kohler mirrored medicine cabinets added personal storage above the sinks. To allow easier access to the bathroom, the entry door was widened. As a result, the vanity needed to be reduced to 18” deep."
"The Kohler Veticyl 13” square sink was the perfect choice for the limited space! The shower insert was replaced with a tile shower, a glass panel and large door. We also removed the water closet door and reduced the height of the wall. There is still privacy and allows for easier access to the area. My favorite part of the project is the area where the tub was once located. The cabinetry and the arched window are lovely!” said Nancy.
