This was a very interesting project in that it involved rethinking the general imagery of the home without wholesale changes to the structure. What had been a mediocre Williamsburg- style home was re-envisioned by its new owner as a French home. I enjoyed working with this family in modifying the detailing to work within the new style. In particular, new casement windows were carefully sized and detailed, the poorly designed dormers were give a few tweaks and a gorgeous limestone surround was designed for the new pair of doors at the entrance. The owner selected the highly unusual combination of authentic slate roof colors- various shades of grayed green-blues and dusty purples. The owner had vision for this home; it was a joy to help see it through fruition. The project also included total gutting and rebuild of the interior. New panellized wall treatments were installed in many areas. The elaborate kitchen by Cantley & Company is a standout.
