A medley of colorful succulents, and low-water grasses and flowering plants surround the fountain providing colors and textures throughout the seasons . The removal of the dense and overgrown shrubs and trees provided more outdoor space for dining and entertaining, less maintenance. And now with site-appropriate plants and no lawn, a lower water bill for the homewoners. The low-water plants include a variety of succulents such as Sedum rupestre 'Angelina' with chartreuse green foliage, Echeveria 'Lipstick', and other succulents along with Lomandra 'seascape' (a grass-like plant), Echinacea, and Salvia. This combination offers year-round appeal and interest throughout the seasons. 1/8" Mexican pebbles were used through the pathways with blue stone. Stripped of its original charm with sagging floors and water leaks, this 1900 row house was prime for a full renovation. While the staircase and marble fireplace are original, everything from the white oak flooring, crown, applied, and base moldings, to the archways and brass door hardware is new; yet they all feel original to the house. Other projects included removing soffits and tucking away randomly placed support beams and posts, relocating and expanding the kitchen, renovating each bathroom – and adding a new one, upgrading all the mechanical, electric and plumbing systems, removing a fireplace, and regrading the back patio for proper drainage and added greenery. The project is a perfect study of juxtaposing new and old, classic and modern.

Traditional meets modern. The flooring tile in this picture is our 12x12 Saltillo regular square tile in its natural color variations. They are sealed with our oil based sealer (semi gloss). You can also have the Saltillo tile stained and sealed in brick red, antique birch, soft brown, walnut, or white wash. Other sealed options are glossy, and matte.
The beautiful tile backsplash is our Talavera tile in the following patterns:
T31 blue 4x4,
T31 blue 2x4 SBN (surface bullnose),
T55 decorative Talavera tile in 4x4.
Theses tiles are sold per piece.
(Saltillo tidbits: The area of Saltillo Mexico where the tile is made has the proper mix of clay, climate, and dedicated workers to produce one of the world's most popular tiles.
Saltillo tiles are not merely "sundried", they are also kiln fired. The way in which these tiles are stacked and positioned in the kiln produces their natural shading and range of colors. The stripping is caused by the overlapping of tiles when they are stacked in the kiln).
We also carry Saltillo regular square in 4x4, 8x8, and 16x16, or in Super (round edges) in 12x12.

Colors inspired by the hand painted Talavera Calla Lilies sink and mural. This bath spaces measures about 6 x 7 foot square so a lot of function needed to be included in a small space.
