This aging in place design was well thought out by the clients for future needs. An add on ramp can be added to the low profile shower base by Onyx for roll in capability, blocking was installed behind the finished walls to accommodate future grab bars and a folding seat, all the shower controls are ADA compliant, and the frameless door has the necessary clearance for accessibility. Part of our design process is to assess what our client's special needs are. Here we have a bathroom modified for ADA accessibility. We consider the dimensions for the shower stall and replaced the tub with a walk-in shower for easier access for wheelchairs and walkers. We also installed grab bars, hand held showers, a tiled corner bench, and relocate the drain.
