This new basement design starts The Bar design features crystal pendant lights in addition to the standard recessed lighting to create the perfect ambiance when sitting in the napa beige upholstered barstools. The beautiful quartzite countertop is outfitted with a stainless-steel sink and faucet and a walnut flip top area. The Screening and Pool Table Area are sure to get attention with the delicate Swarovski Crystal chandelier and the custom pool table. The calming hues of blue and warm wood tones create an inviting space to relax on the sectional sofa or the Love Sac bean bag chair for a movie night. The Sitting Area design, featuring custom leather upholstered swiveling chairs, creates a space for comfortable relaxation and discussion around the Capiz shell coffee table. The wall sconces provide a warm glow that compliments the natural wood grains in the space. The Bathroom design contrasts vibrant golds with cool natural polished marbles for a stunning result. By selecting white paint colors with the marble tiles, it allows for the gold features to really shine in a room that bounces light and feels so calming and clean. Lastly the Gym includes a fold back, wall mounted power rack providing the option to have more floor space during your workouts. The walls of the Gym are covered in full length mirrors, custom murals, and decals to keep you motivated and focused on your form.

Inspiration for a transitional white tile bathroom remodel in Chicago with an undermount sink, shaker cabinets and beige cabinets

This project is an Electronic House Magazine award winner: http://electronichouse.com/article/small_house_goes_big_with_home_automation We were brought into this project just as the major remodel was underway, allowing us to bring together a feature-rich audio/video and automation system with elegant integration into the spaces. This system provides simple control and automation of the lights, climate, audio/video, security, video surveillance, and door locks. The homeowner can use their iPads or iPhones to control everything in their home, or when away.

What is an ADU: Accessory Dwelling Units: An accessory dwelling unit, usually just called an ADU, is a secondary housing unit on a single-family residential lot. The term “accessory dwelling unit” is a institutional-sounding name, but it’s the most commonly-used term across the country to describe this type of housing. While the full name is a mouthful, the shorthand “ADU” is better. ADUs vary in their physical form quite a bit, as there are detached ADU, attached ADU, second story ADU (above garage or work shop), addition ADU, internal ADU. IMPORTANT: There’s simply too few permitted ADUs to make a real difference in the housing stock. But, even if they aren’t going to solve all a city’s problems, they may help homeowners solve some of their problems. The most common motivation for ADU development is rental income potential, followed by the prospect of flexible living space for multigenerational households. We at FIDELITY GENERAL CONTRACTORS, providing a single point of contact to homeowners interested in this product, from conceptual stage including plans, city legwork, project managing of the construction stage including assistance with material purchase and other coordination, all the way to completion. An unsafe entry and desire for more outdoor living space motivated the homeowners of this Mediterranean style ocean view home to hire Landwell to complete a front and backyard design and renovation. A new Azek composite deck with access steps and cable railing replaced an uneven tile patio in the front courtyard, the driveway was updated, and in the backyard a new powder-coated steel pergola with louvered slats was built to cover a new bbq island, outdoor dining and lounge area, and new concrete slabs were poured leading to a cozy deck space with a gas fire pit and seating. Raised vegetable beds, site appropriate planting, low-voltage lighting and Palomino gravel finished off the outdoor spaces of this beautiful Shell Beach home.

In addition to gaining storage and study areas, could these twins show off their big personalities? Absolutely, we said! MOTIV Interiors tackled the rooms of these youngsters living in Nashville's 12th South Neighborhood and created an environment where the dynamic duo can learn, create, and grow together for years to come. Design Solution: In his room, we wanted to continue the feature wall fun, but with a different approach. Since our young explorer loves outer space, being a boy scout, and building with legos, we created a dynamic geometric wall that serves as the backdrop for our young hero’s control center. We started with a neutral mushroom color for the majority of the walls in the room, while our feature wall incorporated a deep indigo and sky blue that are as classic as your favorite pair of jeans. We focused on indoor air quality and used Sherwin Williams’ Duration paint in a satin sheen, which is a scrubbable/no-VOC coating. We wanted to create a great reading corner, so we placed a comfortable denim lounge chair next to the window and made sure to feature a self-portrait created by our young client. For night time reading, we included a super-stellar floor lamp with white globes and a sleek satin nickel finish. Metal details are found throughout the space (such as the lounge chair base and nautical desk clock), and lend a utilitarian feel to the room. In order to balance the metal and keep the room from feeling too cold, we also snuck in woven baskets that work double-duty as decorative pieces and functional storage bins. The large north-facing window got the royal treatment and was dressed with a relaxed roman shade in a shiitake linen blend. We added a fabulous fabric trim from F. Schumacher and echoed the look by using the same fabric for the bolster on the bed. Royal blue bedding brings a bit of color into the space, and is complimented by the rich chocolate wood tones seen in the furniture throughout. Additional storage was a must, so we brought in a glossy blue storage unit that can accommodate legos, encyclopedias, pinewood derby cars, and more! Comfort and creativity converge in this space, and we were excited to get a big smile when we turned it over to its new commander.

Design Solution: In her room, we wanted to create a fun-filled space that supports softball, sleepovers, science, and anything else a girl might want to get into. The star of the show is a beautiful hand-printed wallpaper by Brooklyn designer Aimee Wilder, whose FSC-certified papers contain no VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). That means that in addition to packing a powerful visual punch, they meet our standard for excellent indoor air quality. We also love this wallpaper because it is composed of so many different neutral colors - this room can organically evolve over time without necessarily replacing the paper (which was installed with a no-VOC adhesive). We refreshed the remaining walls with a scrubbable no-VOC paint from Sherwin Williams (7008 Alabaster) and gave the carpets in both of the twins’ rooms a good cleaning and simple stretch as opposed to replacing them. In order to provide more functional light in her room, we incorporated a corner floor lamp for reading, a telescoping desk lamp for studying, and an eye-catching LED flower pendant on a dimmer switch sourced from Lightology. Custom window treatments in a linen/cotton blend emphasize the height of the room and bring in a little “bling” with antiqued gold hardware. Before we even thought about aesthetics, however, MOTIV Interiors got to work right away on increasing functionality. We added a spacious storage unit with plenty of baskets for all of our young client’s animal friends, and we made sure to include ample shelf space for books and hobbies as she finds new passions to explore down the road. We always prefer eco-friendly furnishings that are manufactured responsibly, made with sustainably harvested wood (FSC Certified), and use no glue or non-toxic glues and paints. The bedding in this project is 100% cotton and contains no synthetic fibers. When purchasing bedding, check for the GOTS Certification (Global Organic Textile Standard). The introduction of a desk and drawer unit created a calming space to study and reflect, or write a letter to a friend. Gold accents add a bit of warmth to the workspace, where she can display her memories, goals, and game plans for a bright future. We hope you enjoyed this project as much as we did!
