We transformed a Georgian brick two-story built in 1998 into an elegant, yet comfortable home for an active family that includes children and dogs. Although this Dallas home’s traditional bones were intact, the interior dark stained molding, paint, and distressed cabinetry, along with dated bathrooms and kitchen were in desperate need of an overhaul. We honored the client’s European background by using time-tested marble mosaics, slabs and countertops, and vintage style plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. We balanced these traditional elements with metallic and unique patterned wallpapers, transitional light fixtures and clean-lined furniture frames to give the home excitement while maintaining a graceful and inviting presence. We used nickel lighting and plumbing finishes throughout the home to give regal punctuation to each room. The intentional, detailed styling in this home is evident in that each room boasts its own character while remaining cohesive overall.

Metro Patchwork B&W 3x6 is an eclectic combination of bold prints and classic black and white contrast. The combination of eclectic tiles vary from box to box, creating an endless combination for you. The tiles have a 1/2 lower edge and in the center they are raised just barely to give a slight illusion of movement to the edges of the tiles. The patchwork pattern is created by geometric patterns and bold colors. These tiles are ceramic.

Located in Silverleaf's beautiful Horseshoe Canyon, this 7,700 square foot Ranch Hacienda serves as a vehicle for outdoor space. The owners' desire for "classically traditional" with a lighter, brighter, and airier flavor than the neighborhood's popular, heavier Tuscan fare found expression in exterior materials and detailing that is simple in nature. The Nate Berkus-designed interiors complete the material and color palette with warm restraint. The home, designed for a family with an extreme focus on outdoor living and sports, includes a basement equipped with a home gym, batting cage, and steam room. Outdoor facilities include a sport court and putting green. Additional features of the home include a motor court with dual garages, separate guest quarters, and a walk-in cooler. The clients, receptive to the architect's exploration of multi-use spaces reflecting modern life, gained a laundry room which functions more as a home command station for a highly engaged mother than a place for chores. The multi-use room includes a washer and dryer, wrapping station, project area, winter storage, and her office. This family room went from ultra shabby to super chic! Before the renovation the floors were a worn, dated parquet. We replaced the parquet flooring with a warm chocolate glazed birch hardwood. The fireplace surround was a dreary white painted brick which we refaced with a copper metallic porcelain tile. The preexisting built-ins were completely demolished as they were oversized and out of date. We designed more contemporary and functional custom built-ins for the space, adding some square footage to the room as well. This beautifully restored mid-century modern kitchen seamlessly blends original character with contemporary updates. The rich, warm tones of the new teak cabinetry are a nod to the era's signature style, while the clean lines and minimalist hardware offer a fresh, modern feel. The backsplash, featuring a stunning mosaic tile by Ann Sacks, adds a touch of texture and visual interest, perfectly complementing the natural wood grain of the cabinets. The sleek stainless steel appliances and white countertops create a striking contrast against the warmth of the wood, adding a touch of industrial chic. The slanted ceiling, a classic mid-century architectural element, adds to the airy and open feel of the space, while the large windows flood the kitchen with natural light. A colorful rug adds a touch of personality and warmth to the concrete floors, completing the look of this stylish and functional mid-century kitchen.

We choose to highlight this project because even though it is a more traditional design style its light neutral color palette represents the beach lifestyle of the south bay. Our relationship with this family started when they attended one of our complimentary educational seminars to learn more about the design / build approach to remodeling. They had been working with an architect and were having trouble getting their vision to translate to the plans. They were looking to add on to their south Redondo home in a manner that would allow for seamless transition between their indoor and outdoor space. Design / Build ended up to be the perfect solution to their remodeling need. As the project started coming together and our clients were able to visualize their dream, they trusted us to add the adjacent bathroom remodel as a finishing touch. In keeping with our light and warm palette we selected ocean blue travertine for the floor and installed a complimentary tile wainscot. The tile wainscot is comprised of hand-made ceramic crackle tile accented with Lunada Bay Selenium Silk blend glass mosaic tile. However the piéce de résistance is the frameless shower enclosure with a wave cut top.

Black and tan are such an elegant color palette. It was a perfect finishing touch for this masculine 3/4 bathroom remodel. We modified this 1950's bathroom to allow entry from 2 rooms. Since we were working with a narrow, slim space we were limited for sink counter depth. The option was to use a very narrow wall mount sink, 12" max or have something custom made. In the long run, the custom counter was the way to go. This allows a lot of counter space and storage and still leaves plenty of access to the shower.
