Front-surface mirrors are also located directly adjacent to windows to multiply the views and increase the light brought into the space. White epoxy floors and gloss lacquered surfaces continue the sense of reflectivity, and contrast sharply with dark walnut cabinetry and panels at the perimeter. Timmerman Photography Sculpture by Mayme Kratz This is a home we initially built in 1995 and after it sold in 2014 we were commissioned to come back and remodel the interior of the home. We worked with internationally renowned architect Will Bruder on the initial design on the home. The goal of home was to build a modern hillside home which made the most of the vista upon which it sat. A few ways we were able to achieve this were the unique, floor-to-ceiling glass windows on the side of the property overlooking Scottsdale, a private courtyard off the master bedroom and bathroom, and a custom commissioned sculpture Mayme Kratz. Stonecreek's particular role in the project were to work alongside both the clients and the architect to make sure we were able to perfectly execute on the vision and design of the project. A very unique component of this house is how truly custom every feature is, all the way from the window systems and the bathtubs all the way down to the door handles and other features.

The white cabinetry now pops against the vibrant green backdrop and a new cabinet crafted from Indonesian boats adds an intriguing note of character. The staggered medley of tangerine pendant lights punctuates the dining table with lively energy.

1. Natural Light Yes, plants, animals and people need natural light. But when sunlight is streaming through your windows, blinding you during dinner, you’ll want to be able to block it out. There’s a reason early humans lived in caves. 2. Floor and Table Lamps There’s a place for overhead lighting, but in general it’s easier to control and change lighting with strategically placed floor lamps and table lamps. Move the lamps around from time to time -- experiment with highlighting different parts of a room for a new look. 3. Fluorescent Lights Just say no. Let’s not even discuss this any further. 4. Candles It is a universal truth that every woman looks more beautiful in candlelight. Candles create a special, cozy and intimate feeling, whether they’re real or flameless. 5. Dimmers These are absolutely your best friend. Any overhead lighting should have a dimmer. Period. 6. Outdoor Lights With peaking interest in outdoor living spaces, outdoor lighting options have multiplied, which is great news for everyone. String lights are especially appealing. Avoid strong stadium-style lighting or safety lights, which aren’t appropriate for areas where you entertain.
