Each year, in the summer, perennials such as yarrow and daylilies, pop up next to the markers and monument, making it look as if a family member has left a special bouquet in remembrance. (It is actually a low-maintenance municipal garden, supported by community volunteers who take care of the perennials, while the city takes care of the grass and the remainder of the site).

As a carriage house there was no kitchen in the design in order to meet the municipality’s restrictions. However, with a fully functional bar for comfortable wine & cheese pairings, the space doesn’t feel lacking.

The homeowners wanted both fire and water features in the back garden. Entertaining space was a priority and incorporating two large existing trees that were protected under the municipal by-laws.

Request Free Quote For fireplace and fire pit locations, minimum setbacks are set from property lines and the home. Restrictions are determined by each municipality’s zoning administration. The setbacks are for safety, yet also provide an opportunity for a surrounding garden setting.

This farmhouse is slated to be rehabilitated by the local municipality which owns it. it at one time had tenants and with simple work, it will once again be occupied.
