Just a small shed dormer provided essential headroom for the staircase that accesses a new owners’ retreat at the top of this home. The second floor now has space for a calm and efficient home office, convenient laundry, and a new front deck along with the children’s rooms. From the third floor and exterior, we dramatically improved energy performance with minimal impact to first and second floor interiors. Changes include continuous exterior insulation, high tech wrap, high-performance windows, rooftop solar, and new Air Source Heat Pumps that condition the upper two floors.

This project involved a complete, top-to-bottom renovation of a classic home originally built in 1920. We took this century-old structure and transformed it into a modern, energy-efficient, and beautifully finished home. The house was stripped to its bones, allowing us to address the core structure. A critical part of the project was adding comprehensive insulation to the entire building, which previously had none. The kitchen now opens up to the outdoor cooking area with bifold doors which makes for great flow when entertaining. The outdoor area has a beautiful smoker, along with the bbq and fridge. This will make for some fun summer evenings for this family while they enjoy their new pool. For the actual kitchen, our clients chose to go with Dekton for the countertops. What is Dekton? Dekton employs a high tech process which represents an accelerated version of the metamorphic change that natural stone undergoes when subjected to high temperatures and pressure over thousands of years. It is a crazy cool material to use. It is resistant to heat, fire, abrasions, scratches, stains and freezing. Because of these features, it really is the ideal material for kitchens.
