The original patio was about 274 square feet and we added 352 square feet. The total entertaining space is now over 600 square feet! The house also backs up to water so they wanted an outdoor space to spend watching the beautiful backdrop. As we extended the roof line, the homeowners agreed that an open gable would be too open, therefore we ended up with the hip roof with an added, smaller open gable. That allows some additional natural light to come through with their high living room windows. The fireplace was placed in the corner next to the home wall rather than out on the perimeter because we didn't want to take away from the view to the back. "Honeycomb"/Cellular shades are known for their clean look and great energy saving quality. They help reduce energy usage during very warm or cold months by limiting the transfer of heat. These shades have special insulating air pockets between the front and back side. If they are installed very closely to the window with both sides of the shade held close to the wall, it creates a sealed airspace that effectively limits the amount of hot or cold air from passing through either way. Blackout cellular blinds designed for room darkening are usually lined with foil, which further improve their insulation and can additionally help reduce noise. Cellular shades also help protect the interior of your home from damaging UV rays which can take their toll on hardwood floors and furniture. We remodeled this unassuming mid-century home from top to bottom. An entire third floor and two outdoor decks were added. As a bonus, we made the whole thing accessible with an elevator linking all three floors. The 3rd floor was designed to be built entirely above the existing roof level to preserve the vaulted ceilings in the main level living areas. Floor joists spanned the full width of the house to transfer new loads onto the existing foundation as much as possible. This minimized structural work required inside the existing footprint of the home. A portion of the new roof extends over the custom outdoor kitchen and deck on the north end, allowing year-round use of this space. Exterior finishes feature a combination of smooth painted horizontal panels, and pre-finished fiber-cement siding, that replicate a natural stained wood. Exposed beams and cedar soffits provide wooden accents around the exterior. Horizontal cable railings were used around the rooftop decks. Natural stone installed around the front entry enhances the porch. Metal roofing in natural forest green, tie the whole project together. On the main floor, the kitchen remodel included minimal footprint changes, but overhauling of the cabinets and function. A larger window brings in natural light, capturing views of the garden and new porch. The sleek kitchen now shines with two-toned cabinetry in stained maple and high-gloss white, white quartz countertops with hints of gold and purple, and a raised bubble-glass chiseled edge cocktail bar. The kitchen’s eye-catching mixed-metal backsplash is a fun update on a traditional penny tile. The dining room was revamped with new built-in lighted cabinetry, luxury vinyl flooring, and a contemporary-style chandelier. Throughout the main floor, the original hardwood flooring was refinished with dark stain, and the fireplace revamped in gray and with a copper-tile hearth and new insert. During demolition our team uncovered a hidden ceiling beam. The clients loved the look, so to meet the planned budget, the beam was turned into an architectural feature, wrapping it in wood paneling matching the entry hall. The entire day-light basement was also remodeled, and now includes a bright & colorful exercise studio and a larger laundry room. The redesign of the washroom includes a larger showering area built specifically for washing their large dog, as well as added storage and countertop space. Originally built for Pamplemousse's 5th anniversary, this wine cellar proves classic and timeless with distressed maple doors and traditional redwood racking behind them. Vintage Wine Cellars and Jeffrey Strauss, famed Chef and incredible philanthropist in San Diego, have a long history of working together.. In addition to this cellar and multiple others in the Pamplemousse Restaurant grounds, we also had the pleasure of designing and building Jeffrey's personal home cellar as well. A little more about the restaurant display cellar: Originally designed and built by Vintage Wine Cellars in 2001, this custom wine room boasts triple deep redwood wine racking, a three opening door system, and room for up to 800 bottles. This custom wine cellar inside of renowned Pamplemousse Grille Restaurant in Del Mar, San Diego, California is truly an eye catcher. Originally built for Pamplemousse's 5th anniversary, this wine cellar proves classic and timeless with distressed maple doors and traditional redwood racking behind them. Vintage Wine Cellars and Jeffrey Strauss, famed Chef and incredible philanthropist in San Diego, have a long history of working together.. In addition to this cellar and multiple others in the Pamplemousse Restaurant grounds, we also had the pleasure of designing and building Jeffrey's personal home cellar as well. This homeowner had inherited a small, bleak, builder grade master bathroom that was inexplicably chopped up into tiny pieces with various walls and doorways in between the fixtures. ​ Starting a new life after the loss of a loved one, she wanted to create a master bath refuge designed specifically for her. If a bathroom could represent light, joy, and peace, that is what she wanted. ​ We started by choosing a creamy yellow base color, accented with the sparkle of glass mosaic. All the extra walls came tumbling down, and we bumped out the exterior wall with a generously proportioned bay window and window seat. Next we reconfigured the fixtures, discarding a tired fiberglass bath/shower unit and replacing it with a full wall of glass across the back of the room, defining a spacious shower with a fold down teak bench. A simple and beautiful basin sink sits on a luxuriously sized vanity, while custom cabinetry goes up the wall and over the double entry doors. ​ Finally, the focal point of the entire room is the custom designed tile on the back wall of the shower. The owner wanted to feel as if she was in a rainforest under a beautiful tree. To execute this custom tile mural we worked closely with the tile setters, literally laying the entire wall of tiles out on the floor of the adjacent room for them to transfer to the actual wall. With a quiet backdrop of unassuming white subway tile, we reconfigured mosaic sheets to the forms we required, using specifically colored grout to bring each element to life. ​ The result is a fully functional personal, peaceful, sunny retreat. ​

The sitting room, dining room and kitchen are combined in one unit. Tables made of marble, surrounded by soft chairs upholstered in genuine leather of milky shade emphasize the elite status of the interior. Dynamism and expression of the sitting room interior smoothly transfer into the gentle charm of the bedroom. The same modern style here has got a slightly different character, which is perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable rest. In our blog we are excited to share the new villa project in Palm Jumeirah. Mind-blowing, man-made island Palm Jumeirah as if transferred from the pages of science fiction novels in the desert is considered one of the boldest engineering structures. And this new villa project is a laconic continuation of innovation of modern luxury. The main motive of this wonderful interior story is a wonderful cool oasis in the desert.
