Our Principal Designer, Lynn Kloythanomsup of Landed Interiors & Homes, was selected by House Beautiful as a 'Next Wave' designer in May 2019. This honor is extended to notable designers on the rise, and the accompanying article covers some of Lynn's favorite products and design tips.

The driveway entrance introduces the stately side of the home, displaying clean lines made of concrete and Cor-Ten steel. Almost every material implemented in this home was done so to create a maintenance-free space that withstands the weather and betters with age. The design required minimal alteration of the site, a notable accomplishment in land preservation. To maintain the natural grade, the structure is elevated and cantilevered at the slope, held up by columns which needed only a small amount of foundation work. The only major land disturbance occurs in the recessed garage, which has been supplemented with a green roof on top to preserve the meadow. Photo: David Agnello

This stunning home is a combination of the best of traditional styling with clean and modern design, creating a look that will be as fresh tomorrow as it is today. Traditional white painted cabinetry in the kitchen, combined with the slab backsplash, a simpler door style and crown moldings with straight lines add a sleek, non-fussy style. An architectural hood with polished brass accents and stainless steel appliances dress up this painted kitchen for upscale, contemporary appeal. The kitchen islands offers a notable color contrast with their rich, dark, gray finish. The stunning bar area is the entertaining hub of the home. The second bar allows the homeowners an area for their guests to hang out and keeps them out of the main work zone. The family room used to be shut off from the kitchen. Opening up the wall between the two rooms allows for the function of modern living. The room was full of built ins that were removed to give the clean esthetic the homeowners wanted. It was a joy to redesign the fireplace to give it the contemporary feel they longed for. Their used to be a large angled wall in the kitchen (the wall the double oven and refrigerator are on) by straightening that out, the homeowners gained better function in the kitchen as well as allowing for the first floor laundry to now double as a much needed mudroom room as well.

This breathtaking project by transFORM is just part of a larger renovation led by Becky Shea Design that transformed the maisonette of a historical building into a home as stylish and elegant as its owners. Attention to detail was key in the configuration of the master closets and dressing rooms. The women’s master closet greatly elevated the aesthetic of the space with the inclusion of posh items like ostrich drawer faces, jewelry-like hardware, a dedicated shoe section, and glass doors. The boutique-inspired LED lighting system notably added a luxe look that’s both polished and functional. The contemporary look of the men’s master closet meets office space is striking. Imported wood panels add a natural element to the design while making outstanding use of the residence’s high ceilings. A rolling ladder adds an industrial touch while granting access to the upper cabinetry of the unit. Photography by Michael Biondo Photography ; This stunning green, contemporary home designed to nestle into its steep Westport lot by Ann Sellars and Howard Lathrop of Sellars Lathrop Architects, is beautifully crafted by Domus Constructors. Tight insulation, photovoltaic and thermal solar panels, deep overhangs and Lowen triple pane windows earned builder, Chris Shea, an outstanding 25 HERS rating. The interior boasts a magnificent free form radius staircase by New England Stair Company, which won a Special Focus Award, and the spectacular two-story library with steel catwalk (pictured) features a secret door to a spiral stair and cigar room. Other notable features include a glass walled wine room, a glass enclosed pentagon shaped sunroom and a Wetstyle tub in the spa bath.
