They wanted a larger island and easier access to the dining room. They also wanted to eliminate the existing cooktop location from the island and make the island larger. Because the existing space was not able to accommodate all those requests, we decided to eliminate the breakfast area and incorporate that space into the kitchen. By eliminating an existing bay window and making the kitchen sink window larger, we were able to make the new layout work without sacrificing any natural light. A French door to the newly added and adjoining sunroom and casual outdoor dining spot still allows for multiple dining options. And by enlarging the opening to the dining room, it allows for easier access to this space on a daily basis versus for special occasions only. The client already had a large desk in the kitchen and spends a lot of time at this area. We were able to make the new desk even larger by moving the refrigerator to another area. The refrigerator is covered in decorative panels so that it blends nicely into the furniture look of the room. The larger island can now seat several people comfortably. The room’s traditional feel was achieved by providing different finishes on the perimeter, island and desk cabinetry. Handmade gray backsplash tile, a combination of soapstone and Carrera marble give the space a classic appeal. Details provide interest – custom glass mullions, decorative wood hood and bronze hardware give the space character and charm. Entertaining and relaxing in style After helping our client on various projects throughout their home, they wanted to reconfigure their living room to serve as an area for family time and entertaining. By creating a space within a space we allowed function to meet fun! A space for their family to gather for movies and Sunday games to entertaining with ease for special occasions. Their newly designed living room includes a full working bar with a beer tap and refrigerated draws. The bar area was built in to a bay window leaving the transom windows to allow additional light from the outside in. Other unique and favorite features are the custom made curved cabinets, the LED lit Iridescent glass minbrick mosaic tile behind the TV and glass shelves, the 2 ½ inch thick Danby Montclair Marble and a mirror that turns into a TV. The island in this kitchen was designed to follow the line of the room, maintaining clearances and maximizing cabinet and counter space. Complete with bar sink, wine and bar fridges, the island was accessorized with a pull out recycle/garbage bin, cutlery tray and more pot and pan drawers for everyday use. The island is separated into several zones with the wine fridge and single pull-out for recyclables across from the bar area in the tall storage, prep space on the end of the island across from the Monogram range top and wrapping around to the bar sink, and clean up at the end across from the dishwasher. A recessed seating area at the back of the island accommodates guests for any occasion. At the very end a raised pedestal completes the island. The pedestal is wrapped in ragged copper laminate with a circular granite top adding additional seating conducive to a more intimate gathering.

An eclectic, modern media room with bold accents of black metals, natural woods, and terra cotta tile floors. We wanted to design a fresh and modern hangout spot for these clients, whether they’re hosting friends or watching the game, this entertainment room had to fit every occasion. We designed a full home bar, which looks dashing right next to the wooden accent wall and foosball table. The sitting area is full of luxe seating, with a large gray sofa and warm brown leather arm chairs. Additional seating was snuck in via black metal chairs that fit seamlessly into the built-in desk and sideboard table (behind the sofa).... In total, there is plenty of seats for a large party, which is exactly what our client needed. Lastly, we updated the french doors with a chic, modern black trim, a small detail that offered an instant pick-me-up. The black trim also looks effortless against the black accents. This transitional primary suite remodel is simply breathtaking. It is all but impossible to choose the best part of this dreamy primary space. Neutral colors in the bedroom create a tranquil escape from the world. One of the main goals of this remodel was to maximize the space of the primary closet. From tiny and cramped to large and spacious, it is now simple, functional, and sophisticated. Every item has a place or drawer to keep a clean and minimal aesthetic. The primary bathroom builds on the neutral color palette of the bedroom and closet with a soothing ambiance. The JRP team used crisp white, soft cream, and cloudy gray to create a bathroom that is clean and calm. To avoid creating a look that falls flat, these hues were layered throughout the room through the flooring, vanity, shower curtain, and accent pieces. Stylish details include wood grain porcelain tiles, crystal chandelier lighting, and a freestanding soaking tub. Carol Closet organized this wine bar based upon the regular habits of this client. The client owns many glasses for different occasions, so we began by placing the most frequently used near the bottom where it is most accessible, and worked up from there. Some pieces were display only, so those were placed on the side of the wine bar with glass doors to create pleasant aesthetics.

The homeowner felt closed-in with a small entry to the kitchen which blocked off all visual and audio connections to the rest of the first floor. The small and unimportant entry to the kitchen created a bottleneck of circulation between rooms. Our goal was to create an open connection between 1st floor rooms, make the kitchen a focal point and improve general circulation. We removed the major wall between the kitchen & dining room to open up the site lines and expose the full extent of the first floor. We created a new cased opening that framed the kitchen and made the rear Palladian style windows a focal point. White cabinetry was used to keep the kitchen bright and a sharp contrast against the wood floors and exposed brick. We painted the exposed wood beams white to highlight the hand-hewn character. The open kitchen has created a social connection throughout the entire first floor. The communal effect brings this family of four closer together for all occasions. The island table has become the hearth where the family begins and ends there day. It's the perfect room for breaking bread in the most casual and communal way.
