A quaint cottage set back in Vineyard Haven's Tashmoo woods creates the perfect Vineyard getaway. Our design concept focused on a bright, airy contemporary cottage with an old fashioned feel. Clean, modern lines and high ceilings mix with graceful arches, re-sawn heart pine rafters and a large masonry fireplace. The kitchen features stunning Crown Point cabinets in eye catching 'Cook's Blue' by Farrow & Ball. This kitchen takes its inspiration from the French farm kitchen with a separate pantry that also provides access to the backyard and outdoor shower. Photo Credit: Eric Roth

Modern contemporary kitchen in a 100 year old stone cottage. Concrete counters, snow tire chain pot hanging rack, antique butcher block, stainless steel cabinets.
This 120 year old one room stone cabin features real rock walls and fireplace in a simple rectangle with real handscraped exposed beams. Old concrete floor, from who knows when? The stainless steel kitchen is new, everything is under counter, there are no upper cabinets at all. Antique butcher block sits on stainless steel cabinet, and an old tire chain found on the old farm is the hanger for the cooking utensils. Concrete counters and sink. The wall cabinets are not IKEA. They’re Kraftmaid. This is where IKD’s kitchen design knowledge comes into play.
Jennifer had planned to use IKEA wall cabinets, but there was one snag. Her only option for that corner cabinet near the sink was the IKEA corner wall cabinet. And Jennifer didn’t want that. It’s understandable. The angled door of a traditional corner cabinet would look much too old-fashioned for a MCM kitchen like this.

The clients wanted to take their old powder room from Drab to Fab with some old fashioned hollywood glam. Millwork was used on the lower walls to create recessed panels which like the crown molding at the ceiling were painted with black lacquer. The upper half of the walls are covered in a black and honey bronze grass cloth in a geometric pattern from York Wallcoverings. A fun and whimsical mirror from Wildwood Lamps balances the pattern in the paper. Floating bubble crystal pendants from Hubbardton Forge add a luminescent glow to the space. The floors are tiled in an espresso colored "wood" with a bronze greek key accent from Versace Collection through Wayne Tile of Ramsey. Clean lined white fixtures are reflected in the high gloss paint. Finally a custom faux painted ceiling gold and bronze top it all off in style.

Who said that a Burbank bungalow home needs to be doll and old fashioned.
In this Burbank remodeling project we took this 1200sq. bungalow home and turned it to a wonderful mixture of European modern kitchen space and calm transitional modern farmhouse furniture and flooring.
The kitchen was a true challenge since space was a rare commodity, but with the right layout storage and work space became abundant.
A floating 5' long sitting area was constructed and even the back face of the cabinets was used for wine racks.
Exterior was updated as well with new black windows, new stucco over layer and new light fixtures all around.
both bedrooms were fitted with huge 10' sliding doors overlooking the green backyard.

Welcome to the essential refined mountain rustic home: warm, homey, and sturdy. The house’s structure is genuine heavy timber framing, skillfully constructed with mortise and tenon joinery. Distressed beams and posts have been reclaimed from old American barns to enjoy a second life as they define varied, inviting spaces. Traditional carpentry is at its best in the great room’s exquisitely crafted wood trusses. Rugged Lodge is a retreat that’s hard to return from.

Bedroom update for a 6 year old boy who loves to read, draw, and play cars. Our clients wanted to create a fun space for their son and stay within a tight budget.

Our carpenters labored every detail from chainsaws to the finest of chisels and brad nails to achieve this eclectic industrial design. This project was not about just putting two things together, it was about coming up with the best solutions to accomplish the overall vision. A true meeting of the minds was required around every turn to achieve "rough" in its most luxurious state.

Best of Houzz Kitchen Design 2016 winner. A custom kitchen remodel was one of the final projects for this beautiful Georgian Century Home. All the details were part of the effort to maintain the feel of an old kitchen but with all the most current conveniences. Notice the glass cabinet hung in front of a window, granite counter top repeated as the back splash, porcelain tiles that mimic wood and marble on the floor, a stunning island light and the coffered ceiling.

The front door is on the side of the house that sits well off the road. The towering stone face chimney is a strong design feature to the front of the house. A detached two-car garage and separate work shed make up the "farm" property.
