This bespoke modern media unit was designed and handcrafted for the living room of a private family residence in Surrey. We worked closely with our clients to develop the freestanding piece of uniquely elegant and highly practical furniture. The bold, contemporary design featuring a stepped cornice has given their living room impressive structure and style. Our clients wanted the furniture to make a stunning statement feature in the room. The TV screen is integrated into the design and surrounded by open shelving to display their favourite books and ornaments. Uniquely designed and crafted for the space We began by exploring ideas for the design of the unit, along with materials and finishes. We produced detailed CAD visuals so our clients could clearly envisage how the finished furniture design would look in the space. Tailored display shelving and storage cabinets For this TV unit in their Surrey home, our clients wanted to have open display areas for books and artworks, with lower cabinets for storage. Finished in the latest Italian-designed Xylocleaf veneers, the backs of the open shelving have an impressive, decorative look. The lower cupboards of this unit feature reeded panelled doors with a smooth, push to open, handle-free design. The reeded feature on the doors elevates the furniture design and adds an interesting texture to the unit. High end, sophisticated paint finish Colour was important for our clients. Bridle Path Residence — Formal Living & Music Room This Bridle Path Residence living room is conceived as an elegant, light-filled entertaining space where classical architectural structure meets contemporary glamour and collected residential comfort. Rather than relying on ornament alone, the design uses proportion, symmetry, material contrast, and carefully selected furniture to create a room that feels sophisticated yet genuinely livable. The architecture establishes a strong sense of permanence. Extensive wall panelling, substantial crown moulding, layered ceiling details, and classical fireplace architecture give the room an established character reminiscent of a refined estate interior. At the same time, the clean white envelope keeps the architecture fresh and allows the furnishings and artwork to provide the personality. The expansive bay windows are one of the defining features of the room. Their repeated vertical proportions bring abundant natural light deep into the space while creating a strong relationship with the surrounding landscape. The windows also soften the formal architecture, giving the room an open, airy quality rather than the heaviness often associated with traditional interiors. The furniture introduces a deliberately more contemporary language. A blush-toned sofa and upholstered accent chairs bring softness and warmth, while deep navy seating adds contrast and visual depth. Slim brass frames on the chairs and occasional tables introduce a subtle metallic thread throughout the room, connecting the individual seating pieces into a cohesive composition. Bridle Path Residence — Grand Traditional Entrance This Bridle Path Residence entry is designed around the idea of a formal architectural arrival, where craftsmanship, proportion, and heritage-inspired detailing create an immediate sense of permanence. Rather than treating the foyer as simply a passage into the home, the design gives the entrance its own identity and establishes a sophisticated visual language from the moment of arrival. The custom wood entry door is the defining architectural element. Richly stained timber brings warmth and depth to the predominantly light interior, while the extensive decorative glasswork introduces a handcrafted quality. The intricate leaded-glass pattern combines geometric structure with ornamental curves, creating a focal point that feels timeless rather than tied to a particular trend. The surrounding architecture intentionally remains restrained. Crisp white wall panelling and tailored trim provide a quiet backdrop for the richness of the door, allowing the craftsmanship of the entry to take center stage. This contrast between the clean architectural envelope and the detailed timber and glasswork gives the foyer a refined sense of hierarchy. The marble floor reinforces the formality of the entrance. Its light field and dark border create a tailored, almost estate-inspired foundation, while the small geometric insets add another layer of detail without competing with the door. The reflective stone also amplifies natural and artificial light, making the relatively compact entry feel brighter and more expansive. Above, the crystal chandelier introduces a moment of understated glamour. Its cascading form draws the eye upward toward the coffered ceiling and reinforces the verticality of the foyer.
