Photo by Falon Mihalic A dry riverbed/ rock swale carries water from the home's downspout around a shade garden to infiltrate in the lawn. Plants include Ostrich Fern, Sensitive Fern, Carex 'evergold', Native Bottlebrush Buckeye, Astilbe, Anemone, Virginia Bluebells, Japanese Painted Fern, Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea', Woodland Phlox, and Jack Frost Brunnera. Several types of stone were used to create the rock swale: Smooth Blue Mexican Pebble Beach Stone, Granite and Quartz Boulders.

A pair of contemporary paintings hang in white frames on a white wall above a brass bar cart. The pink, purple and yellow water colors feature a human like drawing. A lamp with the feet of an ostrich and a lamp shade made of lilac colored feathers sits on top of the mid century style bar cart next to a pair of gold filigree glasses.

The existing fireplace was given a facelift with fresh paint, a handsome pewter metal mantel and ostrich slate tiles - extra room to perch when many guests have arrived! A pin light was installed above to illuminate art work. Design: Laura Lerond. Photo: Dan Bawden.

Legno Bastone wood flooring continues throughout the condo. A repurposed imported wool rug that compliments the drapery. A custom ottoman with ostrich vinyl on casters for movability. A custom Kravet sofa in a textured coastal blue. A cashmere throw is all that is needed for a casual comfortable family room.
