This kitchen design in Bowie, MD achieved a striking style with two-toned kitchen cabinets. To achieve this custom look and realize the client's design vision we incorporated two different cabinet lines, with Koch Classic "Bristol" in Oyster on the perimeter and HomeCrest "Bexley" in Cadet for the island, both on maple wood. An Olympus quartz "Fortuna" premium countertop complements the white cabinetry, while a Sapele mahogany wood top beautifully accents the blue island. The backsplash at the sink and range wall is Eclipse Grey Wave 4 x 12 glossy glass subway tile, which provides a striking contrast to the white perimeter color palette. The island includes seating with upholstered chairs in a complementary color scheme. A stainless apron front sink pairs perfectly with the Brizo "Tresa" two handled faucet in polished nickel. GE stainless appliances feature throughout the kitchen design, along with a built in microwave and a Brizo pot filler faucet. Beyond the main kitchen cabinets, the design includes a built-in desk with storage. A beverage station with an undercounter beverage refrigerator also incorporates a wine rack, wine glass storage, and narrow glass front cabinets with in cabinet lighting.

A coastal color palette of aqua, cobalt, and coral was the starting point for the design of this island getaway. An abundance of creamy whites and soft greys calm the palette and give a sense of airiness and serenity. Coastal motifs infuse the home with a beach-vibe and cheerful whimsy! The original layout was maintained, with the addition of a kitchen bar counter, and a built-in window seat in the guest bedroom. All surfaces, fixtures and finishes were replaced with new selections. Solid wood plantation shutters were added for a clean, classic look. New flooring included custom reclaimed teak wood floors with a driftwood finish and varying plank widths, stone-look porcelain tiles, and pebble stone in the showers for a spa-like feel. Caesarstone countertops were a beautiful and practical choice. The custom herringbone kitchen backplash pattern is repeated in the nook chairs. Plumbing fixtures by Kohler include a classic bridge kitchen faucet, body sprays and rain shower heads. New appliances by Wolf, GE Monogram and Miele make the kitchen “chef-worthy.” Unexpected textures and shapes are found in the urchin-like foyer wall sconce, barnacle mirror and antique tin & glass bead pendants in the powder bath, oyster shell dining chandelier, and marble pendants over the kitchen bar. Textural elements were integrated through grasscloth wallcoverings and tongue-and-groove paneling accents. Special cabinet hardware adds character to each room, and closet systems were installed to enhance the functionality of the home and to keep things organized. This townhouse is truly a restful retreat, abounding with luxurious amenities and all of the comforts one could desire.

These homeowners wanted a house to age in place. They were out of space in their one story ranch and we were able to add a master suite to expand their home. We added to their existing hallway and opened up a wall for a new laundry room, bedroom, bath and closet. The space is bright with new windows and has access to the outdoors from the master bath. A large new closet off the bathroom keeps their clothes in easy reach. The couple wanted to be able to age in place, so the shower curb was fitted to allow for roll in access. The decorative ADA grab bars that were placed throughout provide beauty and function. A seat was added to the shower, along with a hand shower and niche boxes for storage. Light and neutral tile and colors were used throughout. Our clients loves their new suite and know they will be able to stay in their home for years to come. Designed for entertaining, the bar backsplash has a beautiful luminescence that calls to mind mother-of-pearl oyster shells. Glass uppers sit atop a countertop made of natural, light wood. The lower cabinetry with shaker doors elegantly houses an ice maker, beverage center, and storage cabinet, all paneled and elegantly concealed in the bar.

After finding a great neighborhood nestled in charming Keizer, Oregon, our clients went about leaving their mark on their new home.
The kitchen was just too cramped and dark with the wood stained cabinets. We snagged a little unused space in the rarely used formal dining room and pushed the face of the cabinets, oven, and microwave flush with the wall. Trading unused space in the formal dining room gained us nearly two feet of prime work area in the kitchen.
With the space issue resolved we tackled brightening up the area. Replacing the black appliances with stainless steel KitchenAid microwave, oven, and a french door bottom mount fridge really helped. The full height Daltile Rittenhouse 3”x6” subway tile backsplash in Biscuit with Oyster Grey grout helped keep the kitchen bright while adding enough color to keep it from feeling “institutional”.
The two-tone quartz, Basix Portabello on the outer counter tops and Polarstone Pietra Danae on the island, along with the sleek Blanco Biscotti undermount sink add form and function. Being able to wipe the counter tops directly into the sink is a joy everyone should experience. We added a custom wine bar and the Navy Blue statement island to make this kitchen really stand out. The result was very happy clients who love spending time in their home.
