Front Porch Transformation – From Failing Wood to Full Composite Upgrade ✨
This porch had years of peeling paint, rot, water damage, and structural wear. We rebuilt it from the framing up and gave this home a clean, modern, low-maintenance upgrade that will last for decades.
What we did:
✔️ Removed all failing decking, treads, and trim
✔️ Repaired and reinforced the existing framing
✔️ Installed new composite decking in a beautiful wood-tone finish
✔️ Rebuilt the stair system with composite treads & white risers
✔️ Installed new vinyl railings and posts
✔️ Wrapped all exposed structure in PVC for a clean, maintenance-free finish
✔️ Sealed, repaired, and refinished column bases
✔️ Added all new fasteners, blocking, and waterproofing where needed
The result? A porch that’s safer, stronger, and absolutely elevates the curb appeal of this home.
If your porch or deck is showing signs of age — peeling paint, soft spots, loose rails, or rot — we can rebuild it the right way.

For this exterior renovation, we began by thoroughly preparing all surfaces to ensure a long-lasting, professional finish. The home was pressure washed to remove dirt and debris, loose and peeling paint was scraped away, damaged areas were repaired as needed, and all gaps around windows, doors, and trim were sealed with high-quality exterior caulking. We carefully masked and protected all windows, doors, concrete, roofing, and landscaping before painting.
We applied premium Sherwin-Williams exterior paint, finishing the body of the home in White Picket Fence and the fascia, trim, and accents in Iron Ore to create a clean, modern look with excellent curb appeal. Multiple coats were applied as needed to achieve full coverage, consistent color, and a durable finish designed to withstand the California climate.

We matched the color very closely on the project to the original. With it being an older home it required a lot of scraping. So, we scraped the loose and peeling paint, primed the bare wood and provide two finish coats to provide a lasting paint job.

For the upstairs bedroom the the homeowner wanted to get rid of the bland orange walls. After doing some prep work, we added fresh ceiling paint and gave the baseboards and trim around the windows and door a new semi gloss finish. For the walls we covered the bland orange color with a nice neutral paint with a flat finish. After doing some prep work we applied two coats of ceiling paint to make the ceiling look brand new.
After doing some prep work and applying ceiling paint we applied a two tone color scheme onto the walls covering up the bland orange color with a neutral flat finish and a bold color flat finish which really adds a distinguished look to the room. We also carried the same lavender color into the master bathroom allowing the master bath and master bedroom to flow together.

After some prep work we spruced it up and added a fresh coat of white ceiling paint which goes well with the neutral color on the walls giving it a fresh clean look. the stairway leading up to the hallway had quite a bit of peeling paint as well as some fading after doing some prep work we added a couple coats of a very clean looking neutral color flat finish.

This garage door needed extensive preparation before it would be ready for paint. Any failing/peeling paint was pressure washed off, and then scraped and sanded before a coat of primer was applied over any bare wood areas. Next, two coats of Ecologic Exterior Semi Gloss Paint was applied to the entire garage door, frame and inset windows.

This job was at house in Polwarth, a small parish through which flows the Union Canal, running from Falkirk to Edinburgh. The client had requested a clean for a Victorian tiled hallway set in the narrow reception area of the house.
The tiled floor had been painted over by the previous owners of the house using a thick, red paint. Painting a tile floor in such a way can affect its wash-ability, and the paint can peel off over time especially in a high-traffic area such as a reception area or hallway such as this. The red paint would have to be removed in order to restore the tile underneath and reveal its natural state, as well as provide a thorough and much-needed clean.
The first step in the paint removal process was to spray the floor with a strong solution of Tile Doctor Pro-Clean mixed with Remove & Go. Pro-Clean is a heavy duty cleaner and degreaser, suitable for use on tile, stone and grout. Pro-Clean combines well with Remove and Go, which is a multi-purpose stripper capable of removing most sealers, adhesives and, particularly important for this case, paint. The solution was left to dwell after application to allow it to soak into the tile and soften the paint and dirt.
After 10 to 15 minutes we scrubbed the floor in order to remove as much of the paint as possible. The owner of the house was surprised to see the true colours of the tile appearing, which had been hidden beneath the paint for a significant period of time. As the red paint coating was particularly thick, we had to scrub the floor multiple times. In some areas the paint proved tricky to remove so it was necessary to use a steamer to steam clean the stubborn areas.
Once all of the paint had been successfully removed, the unveiled tile floor was treated to another clean using Pro-Clean, before being given a wash down and neutralised using Concentrated Neutral Tile & Stone Cleaner. It’s important to ensure any trace of strong cleaning products are removed from floor before the next step of sealing as it can impact the sealer leading to un-even results.
The floor was left to dry off overnight and we came back the next day to seal the tiles using four coats of Tile Doctor Seal & Go which is an ideal sealer for Victorian tiles as it provides stain protection whilst also bringing out the colours resulting in a subtle sheen appearance.
You can see from the photos that after a thorough cleaning and sealing the floor was back to looking its best. I do wonder why someone would want to paint over such a fantastic Victorian tiled floor!
