The owners of this home came to us with a plan to build a new high-performance home that physically and aesthetically fit on an infill lot in an old well-established neighborhood in Bellingham. The Craftsman exterior detailing, Scandinavian exterior color palette, and timber details help it blend into the older neighborhood. At the same time the clean modern interior allowed their artistic details and displayed artwork take center stage.
We started working with the owners and the design team in the later stages of design, sharing our expertise with high-performance building strategies, custom timber details, and construction cost planning. Our team then seamlessly rolled into the construction phase of the project, working with the owners and Michelle, the interior designer until the home was complete.
The owners can hardly believe the way it all came together to create a bright, comfortable, and friendly space that highlights their applied details and favorite pieces of art.

A large bonus room transformed into an all-inclusive bright and colorful playroom with a stage for acting and karoake, a craft table with bins for storage and a wire for displaying creations, hanging chairs for reading, a cube wall for storage of toys, along with a window seat and chalk wall.

Adjacent to the main kitchen is a low profile home office and display cabinet. Perfect for a lap top, paper management, and kids' artwork, it allows for organization of activities and items that often spill over into the working kitchen.

This new Arts and Crafts revival in the heart of wine country was designed by Emerick Architects for a family of four with two young children. Local materials are emphasized along with the salient parts of Arts and Crafts philosophy in the design. Installations include dual ground source heat pumps, rainwater collection system sourced from the roof and a 2-acre kitchen garden. Featuring an immense amount of fine carpentry, the project is a virtuoso performance by Hammer and Hand carpenters, with deftly executed trim details throughout the house. A child's bedroom simply and sweetly designed for transitional living. Unpretentious and inviting, this space was designed for a toddler boy until he will grow up and move to another room within the home.
This light filled, dusty rose nursery was curated for a long awaited baby girl. The room was designed with warm wood tones, soft neutral textiles, and specially curated artwork. Featured soft sage paint, earth-gray carpet and black and white framed prints. A sweet built-in bookshelf, houses favorite toys and books.

The living room is both sophisticated and cozy, with a large comfortable sectional sofa in a family-friendly performance fabric. Our team demoed the existing 12" x 24" tiles that previously covered the fireplace wall and refaced the wall with breathtaking marble-look quartz slabs. The existing ceiling fan was removed and replaced with a modern sputnik chandelier that accentuates the room's vaulted ceiling. Finally, our design team dressed the room in sumptuous, upholstered furniture, black accent tables, modern art, a bold patterned rug and rust velvet chairs for an added punch of color.
