Master Bathroom, Silver Leafed Ceiling next to lavender Venetian Plaster, Newport Coast, CA
My client wanted her Master Bathroom walls & ceilings to coordinate with her exquisite marble. We had fun with this one, with an initial raised relief pattern subtly imbedded underneath which is seen in the light and accents with the bedroom patterns.
Please visit our project files for more views of the multitudes of award-winning specialty venetian plasters, Trompe L'oeil, faux finishes, wall glaze, painted furniture and custom art commissions on canvas we have performed over the years.

This basement playroom is a dream come true for a family with two kids who love music! We created a stage with a curtain for big brother to perform on, while baby sis watches from her own swing, cheering him on as his #1 fan. The playroom also includes adjustable art tables and stools that grow with the kids, giving them the perfect spot for creative expression. There’s a cozy reading area, toy storage, and a gross motor play area complete with monkey bars, a foam pit, a climbing wall, and a cargo net for endless active fun. It’s the perfect space for the whole family to play, create, and perform together.

The owners of this home came to us with a plan to build a new high-performance home that physically and aesthetically fit on an infill lot in an old well-established neighborhood in Bellingham. The Craftsman exterior detailing, Scandinavian exterior color palette, and timber details help it blend into the older neighborhood. At the same time the clean modern interior allowed their artistic details and displayed artwork take center stage.
We started working with the owners and the design team in the later stages of design, sharing our expertise with high-performance building strategies, custom timber details, and construction cost planning. Our team then seamlessly rolled into the construction phase of the project, working with the owners and Michelle, the interior designer until the home was complete.
The owners can hardly believe the way it all came together to create a bright, comfortable, and friendly space that highlights their applied details and favorite pieces of art.

Today we are featuring another D77 Project by Tim and Camet Runkel at Beautiful Brush Works! I am always excited to share with you about the endless possibilities of Design 7 Seven Acrylic Glaze.
Wow, another beautiful performance from Design 7 Seven Glaze! This 2 tone metallic finish was achieved using a small portion of D77 in my metallics, only about 20% and a splash of water and then worked lightly with tools to erase work lines. Used the D77 in both the Silver base layer and in the golden bronze top layer, and. Voila ! it looks sprayed. The D77 absolutely made this possible, because it gave me the ability to soften the metallic work lines and work from one section into another and then gel out to a flawless finish! I've never used anything like it. I love being able to use products to glaze with that normally dry so quickly that they are difficult to glaze with. Such as Metallics, acrylic stains, acrylic polyurethanes lime products, and many art acrylics. And D77 is phenomenal in metallics! You don’t have to dilute the metallic with glaze so much that it requires many layers to achieve the metallic luster. I even use a small amount in my clear acrylic top coats to have time to work the product over the surface, and increase the dry time a small amount to allow it to level to a rich, smooth, even, finish.
Thank You so much for this wonder Glaze!!

The client's business includes booking musicians and performance artists. Musicality can be expressed visually in movement in a custom window treatment, lyrical lines, and sometimes dramatic color contrast. Crystal finials on a Deco and Deco decorative pole in a black nickel finish paired beautifully with this elegant Moreland valance and tied back panel. The valance is lined and interlined, with a microwelt bottom edge in black. Tiebacks are from L.A. Fred Fabrics. The black lamp was found for her office in an antique store. Design by Linda H. Living Room:
Our customer wanted to update the family room and the kitchen of this 1970's splanch. By painting the brick wall white and adding custom built-ins we brightened up the space. The decor reflects our client's love for color and a bit of asian style elements. We also made sure that the sitting was not only beautiful, but very comfortable and durable. The sofa and the accent chairs sit very comfortably and we used the performance fabrics to make sure they last through the years. We also wanted to highlight the art collection which the owner curated through the years.
Kithen:
We enlarged the kitchen by removing a partition wall that divided it from the dining room and relocated the entrance. Our goal was to create a warm and inviting kitchen, therefore we selected a mellow, neutral palette. The cabinets are soft Irish Cream as opposed to a bright white. The mosaic backsplash makes a statement, but remains subtle through its beige tones. We selected polished brass for the hardware, as well as brass and warm metals for the light fixtures which emit a warm and cozy glow.
For beauty and practicality, we used quartz for the working surface countertops and for the island we chose a sophisticated leather finish marble with strong movement and gold inflections. Because of our client’s love for Asian influences, we selected upholstery fabric with an image of a dragon, chrysanthemums to mimic Japanese textiles, and red accents scattered throughout.
Functionality, aesthetics, and expressing our clients vision was our main goal.
