With over 25 years’ experience in horticulture, our painstakingly detailed design of lush green foliage gives off the impression of real plants due to a convincing growing pattern and a variety of textures. Unless you physically touch and smell it, it is impossible to tell it’s not the real thing! With our green walls there is little to no maintenance involved and no need for pesticides which are harmful to the environment. Although plastic, our product is not single use, it can be reused and recycled – which we believe is incredibly important.
We pride ourselves on being able to provide our clients with a customized green wall. Firstly, our signature three panel solution, eradicates repetition whilst giving a natural, random looking pattern. To further the customization, clients can position individual flowers and plants in the walls, tailoring it to their taste and tone, with our color box range.

THEME The overall theme for this
space is a functional, family friendly
escape where time spent together
or alone is comfortable and exciting.
The integration of the work space,
clubhouse and family entertainment
area creates an environment that
brings the whole family together in
projects, recreation and relaxation.
Each element works harmoniously
together blending the creative and
functional into the perfect family
escape.
FOCUS The two-story clubhouse is
the focal point of the large space and
physically separates but blends the two
distinct rooms. The clubhouse has an
upper level loft overlooking the main
room and a lower enclosed space with
windows looking out into the playroom
and work room. There was a financial
focus for this creative space and the
use of many Ikea products helped to
keep the fabrication and build costs
within budget.
STORAGE Storage is abundant for this
family on the walls, in the cabinets and
even in the floor. The massive built in
cabinets are home to the television
and gaming consoles and the custom
designed peg walls create additional
shelving that can be continually
transformed to accommodate new or
shifting passions. The raised floor is
the base for the clubhouse and fort
but when pulled up, the flush mounted
floor pieces reveal large open storage
perfect for toys to be brushed into
hiding.
GROWTH The entire space is designed
to be fun and you never outgrow
fun. The clubhouse and loft will be a
focus for these boys for years and the
media area will draw the family to
this space whether they are watching
their favorite animated movie or
newest adventure series. The adjoining
workroom provides the perfect arts and
crafts area with moving storage table
and will be well suited for homework
and science fair projects.
SAFETY The desire to climb, jump,
run, and swing is encouraged in this
great space and the attention to detail
ensures that they will be safe. From
the strong cargo netting enclosing
the upper level of the clubhouse to
the added care taken with the lumber
to ensure a soft clean feel without
splintering and the extra wide borders
in the flush mounted floor storage, this
space is designed to provide this family
with a fun and safe space.

The design promotes healthy lifestyles by providing primary living on one floor, no materials containing volatile organic compounds, energy recovery ventilation systems, radon elimination systems, extension of interior spaces into the natural environment of the site, strong and direct physical and visual connections to nature, daylighting techniques providing occupants full integration into a natural, endogenous circadian rhythm.
Incorporation¬¬¬ of daylighting with clerestories and solar tubes reduce daytime lighting requirements. Ground source geothermal heat pumps and superior-to-code insulation ensure minimal space-conditioning costs. Corten steel siding and concrete foundation walls satisfy client requirements for low maintenance and durability. All lighting fixtures are LEDs.

The Parasite Installation is the outcome of the cooperation between the architect Hsieh Ying Chun and TCA Think Tank, led by Pier Alessio Rizzardi, Zhang Hankun and Martin Huba
The pavilion took part in the installation Synergy & Symbiosis during the Architecture Biennale 2014 at the garden outside the Chinese Pavilion attracting visitors arriving from the Giardini and Arsenale exhibitions. (Based on the Bug Dome pavilion, a similar experiment from Hong Kong 2009, constructed by Weak! Architects as an icon of “illegal architecture).
The structure was primarily used as physical research of fundamental elements of the traditional space, understanding the basic concepts behind traditional Chinese spaces created the reference to developing the design.
We were happy to use simple parametric tools to build the form defined by two curves interacting with the existing permanent structure. As a result was created a lively spatial composition shaped by a single curved mesh.
The workshop used contemporary and locally produced economical materials, such as wires, metal nets and PVC pipes. The pipes are bent to create arches that guarantees zero impact, as well as a temporary environment for the fragile Venice Biennale venue. PVC was chosen for its flexibility, which allows several possible and flexible forms.

We are delighted to have completed the radical transformation of a tired detached property in South Croydon.
When they appointed Granit, our clients were living in the property which had previously been divided into a number of flats.
The historic sub-division had resulted in an extremely poor use of space with redundant staircases, kitchens and bathrooms throughout.
Our clients sought to reconfigure the property back into a single dwelling for his growing family.
Our client had an eye for design and was keen to balance contemporary design whilst maintaining as much of the character of the original house.
Maximising natural light, space and establishing a visual and physical connection were also key drivers for the design. Owing to the size of the property, it became apparent that reconfiguration rather than extension provided the solution to meet the brief.
A metal clad ‘intervention’ was introduced to the rear facade. This created a strong horizontal element creating a visual balance with the vertical nature of the three storey gable.
The metal cladding specified echoed the colour of the red brick string courses tying old with new. Slender frame sliding doors provide access and views of the large garden.
The central circulation space was transformed by the introduction of a double height glazed slot wrapping up the rear facade and onto the roof. This allows daylight to permeate into the heart of the otherwise dark deep floor plan. The staircase was reconfigured into a series of landings looking down over the main void space below and out towards the tree canopies at the rear of the garden.
The introduction of double pocket doors throughout the ground floor creates a series of interconnected spaces and the whitewashed Larch flooring flows seamlessly from room to room. A bold palette of colours and materials lends character and texture throughout the property.
The end result is a spacious yet cosy environment for the family to inhabit for years to come.

Our clients wanted to replace an existing suburban home with a modern house at the same Lexington address where they had lived for years. The structure the clients envisioned would complement their lives and integrate the interior of the home with the natural environment of their generous property. The sleek, angular home is still a respectful neighbor, especially in the evening, when warm light emanates from the expansive transparencies used to open the house to its surroundings. The home re-envisions the suburban neighborhood in which it stands, balancing relationship to the neighborhood with an updated aesthetic.
The floor plan is arranged in a “T” shape which includes a two-story wing consisting of individual studies and bedrooms and a single-story common area. The two-story section is arranged with great fluidity between interior and exterior spaces and features generous exterior balconies. A staircase beautifully encased in glass stands as the linchpin between the two areas. The spacious, single-story common area extends from the stairwell and includes a living room and kitchen. A recessed wooden ceiling defines the living room area within the open plan space.
Separating common from private spaces has served our clients well. As luck would have it, construction on the house was just finishing up as we entered the Covid lockdown of 2020. Since the studies in the two-story wing were physically and acoustically separate, zoom calls for work could carry on uninterrupted while life happened in the kitchen and living room spaces. The expansive panes of glass, outdoor balconies, and a broad deck along the living room provided our clients with a structured sense of continuity in their lives without compromising their commitment to aesthetically smart and beautiful design.

Situated in a pocket of classic Oak woodlands in Portola valley, the site of this home addition had partial views of the incredible landscape below, but lacked physical access to its full splendor. Analogous to a fallen log, the addition extends out from the original home to inhabit the slope, laying host to a new and unexpected habitable micro-environment. Gently cascading down the hillside, it echoes the natural slope of the site with a long, broad flowing stair lined with panoramic windows to capture views of the valley. As it terminates, a deck is laid forth and seemingly slips under the curtain wall beyond, spilling out onto a grassy play area and forming a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. Morning and evening light filtering through the trees create a dappled light that plays on the building and blends the house into the wooded hillside. Nature and nurture, soil and sun, is reinforced through all materials. The consistent color of the exterior panels forms a warm canvas for the light cast through the trees to create a brilliant exhibition of light and shadow that dances across the East and West façade as the sun moves throughout the day. The obscured forms of the surrounding trees dematerialize the house, which is consumed into the hillside. On the inside, faced with horizontally laid Eucalyptus, “cut-outs” in the cabinetry create small, warm apertures in the West façade where dramatic evening sun lights up the house and signals, “Its dinner time!”

Miami, for centuries since its discovery by early explorers, has lured new residents to its shores with the promise paradise in the Tropics. Located on the South Bank of the Miami River, and following the traditions of Tropical Living, this home designed by KI Architecture and Armando Montero R.A. LEED AP, incorporates design ideas that promote healthy living and mitigate Climate Change and Sea Level Rise threats in one of the most vulnerable areas in the Country. Miami and South Florida are often at the center of the Hurricane Track Forecast Cone and seasonal King Tides often flood streets.
The resilient design ensures that disruptions due to natural disasters are minimized. The house structure and adjacent outdoor areas are raised above potential and future flood levels. The structure is hardened and protects the home from wind damage, and is capable of withstanding 180+ mph winds, and the home is designs to function off the grid using photovoltaic energy and other green strategies. Other incorporated sustainable strategies include capturing and re-using rainwater, treating sewage on site and reclaiming grey water to irrigate rooftop gardens and landscape, Roof tops not used for PV panels serve as green roofs and recreational decks that allow home vegetable farming even during flooded conditions.
The house is also designed to maximize the well-being of the occupants by increasing the quality of air, water, natural lighting, and materials to create an environment that promotes physical and mental health.

Steps from Riverside Park, the existing apartment had previously not been renovated for 30 years and was in dire need of a complete overhaul. StudioLAB was presented with the challenge of re-designing the space to fit a modern family’s lifestyle today with the flexibility to adjust as they evolve into their tomorrow. The existing formal closed kitchen and dining room were combined and opened up to allow the owners to entertain in an open living environment and allow natural light to permeate throughout different exposures of the apartment. Bathrooms were gutted, enlarged and reconfigured. Central air conditioning was added with minimal ducting as to be hidden and not seem clunky. Built-in bookshelves run the length of the perimeter walls below windows, concealing radiators and providing extra valuable storage in every room. A neutral color palette, minimalist details, and refined materials create a warm, modern atmosphere. Light brown oak veneered archways as well as LED cove ceilings are used to separate programmatic spaces visually without the use of physical partitions. A charcoal stained cube built-in was designed with in the foyer to create deep storage while continuing into the kitchen to hide the built-in refrigerator and pantry visually connecting the two spaces. The family’s two children share one large bedroom in order to create a playroom in the other which can also serves as a guest room when needed. The master bedroom features a full height grey stained ash veneered wall unit that serves as the predominant clothes storage. A panel housing the TV slides to reveal more clothes storage behind. To utilize the exiting formal maid’s room behind the kitchen, a small study and powder room were created that house laundry machines as well.

The image depicts a stunning mid-century modern kitchen design that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living. The kitchen showcases the iconic elements of mid-century modern style, characterized by clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and a focus on functionality.
One of the standout features of this kitchen is the large slider doors that open up to the outside space. These expansive doors not only flood the kitchen with an abundance of natural light but also provide a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor areas. They create a sense of continuity, allowing the kitchen to extend beyond its physical boundaries and embrace the surrounding environment.
The kitchen itself boasts a sleek and uncluttered layout. The clean lines of the cabinetry, countertops, and appliances contribute to the minimalist aesthetic, creating an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance. The color palette is typically characterized by neutral tones, emphasizing a sense of balance and tranquility.
The integration of mid-century modern design principles extends to the choice of materials and finishes. Natural wood elements, such as cabinetry or flooring, add warmth and texture to the space, enhancing its organic appeal. These elements blend harmoniously with other design elements, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
This mid-century modern kitchen design embodies the essence of timeless elegance and functionality. The large slider doors establish a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces, bringing nature's beauty inside. The clean lines, minimalist aesthetics, and choice of materials contribute to a sleek and uncluttered environment, providing a delightful culinary space that effortlessly combines style and practicality.
