Functionality meets aesthetics with Merillat cabinetry thoughtfully integrated into the design. These cabinets discreetly store away office supplies and materials, maintaining a clutter-free environment conducive to focus and creativity. The ebony veneer theme extends to the custom columns, creating a visual harmony throughout the space. The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the standing desk, a marvel of modern design and functionality. Its programmable feature allows for up to four memorized heights, catering to my ergonomic preferences throughout the workday. The owners of this beautiful historic farmhouse had been painstakingly restoring it bit by bit. One of the last items on their list was to create a wrap-around front porch to create a more distinct and obvious entrance to the front of their home. Aside from the functional reasons for the new porch, our client also had very specific ideas for its design. She wanted to recreate her grandmother’s porch so that she could carry on the same wonderful traditions with her own grandchildren someday. Key requirements for this front porch remodel included: - Creating a seamless connection to the main house. - A floorplan with areas for dining, reading, having coffee and playing games. - Respecting and maintaining the historic details of the home and making sure the addition felt authentic. Upon entering, you will notice the authentic real pine porch decking. Real windows were used instead of three season porch windows which also have molding around them to match the existing home’s windows. The left wing of the porch includes a dining area and a game and craft space. Ceiling fans provide light and additional comfort in the summer months. Iron wall sconces supply additional lighting throughout. Exposed rafters with hidden fasteners were used in the ceiling. Handmade shiplap graces the walls. On the left side of the front porch, a reading area enjoys plenty of natural light from the windows. The new porch blends perfectly with the existing home much nicer front facade. There is a clear front entrance to the home, where previously guests weren’t sure where to enter. We successfully created a place for the client to enjoy with her future grandchildren that’s filled with nostalgic nods to the memories she made with her own grandmother. This award-winning project was originally a two-storey house that was transformed into a three-storey home. The house was stripped back to the studs and resigned from the ground up. The open-concept main floor is both inviting and spacious. Bespoke banquet seating brings charm and allure to the dining room, while a custom, high-end chef's kitchen provides the 'wow' factor with grace and sophistication. The living room showcases delicate, hand-crafted cabinetry, enhancing the home's sense of luxury and comfort. Playful and elegant bathrooms and bedrooms adorn this house, which also features a steam shower. The 'pièce de résistance' is the principal bedroom and ensuite created with spa-like serenity and comfort in mind. Made-to-order cabinetry, beautiful hand-painted fixtures and finishes, and a rooftop deck that features a hot tub make this house a true gem.

While in the midst of the complete remodel of their midcentury modern Eichler home, our client asked us to design the outdoor spaces for their entire property. After blending elements from a series of conceptual landscape plans, we developed the working drawings that transformed and enhanced this mid-modern jewel. Highlights of the project include an all white flowering garden, a sunny poolside patio with built-in seating, custom fencing and gates, and a comfortable dining area with fantastic views. The home overlooks the Richardson bay, so we choose plants and materials that could sustain and thrive in the prevailing salty winds. A muted, soft grey-green grass planting scheme accent the all white garden. Pops of color were used in the tree scheme; a meyer lemon and wisteria are planted near the house. We used a materials palette that will patina gracefully including custom designed stone work, walkways with hand seeded mexican pebbles, earthy stone walls, copper railing, and blue-gray tile detailing.

Bright and roomy, the floor plan includes 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a large vaulted great room, a second story loft with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, a first floor master suite, and a flexible “away room”. Every square inch of this home was optimized in the design stage for flexible spaces with convenient traffic flow, and excellent storage - all within a modest footprint. The generous covered outdoor areas extend the living spaces year-round and provide geometric grace to a classic gable roof.

What a great space to hang out and fold laundry! This space was originally 2 spaces (laundry room and a management room) without windows and 2 entry points. Here in the after design of the space, is one large space with loads of storage space and whimsy to match. Laundry rooms are a great area to play with color and have fun. The island is on rubber casters to allow for removal or repair of w/d in the future. Rustic barn doors grace the entry into this space and the dog wash is perfect for small dogs or muddy shoes.etc. The Schumacher wallpaper puts a smile on your face while creating a perfect color balance to this room. This house was a very small mid-century bungalow with previous additions that resulted in a large but chaotic layout. The owners wanted to convert the house to a super-efficient, and charming Craftsman-style, 6 bedroom home for their large family and work at home. We achieved the space needs by moving a few walls for a more efficient, organized layout, setting up spaces for overlapping uses, and making a small upstairs addition. Every bit of square footage was optimized to meet the goals of the project without making the house huge or adding unnecessary cost. Much thought was given to the entry sequence near the front door. A large flow-through mudroom with storage for each family member, and adjacent laundry, make it easy for children to be taught to keep their things organized and to contribute to household chores. A mail station and central home admin area at the mudroom help keep clutter down at other areas and minimize home management tasks. A garage door near the kitchen gives quick access to bulk items. The existing house had too much view to the street from the living room through large corner windows, and too little entry transition, to the extent that the family did not feel comfortable using the living room much without shades drawn. We raised the window sills and brought the new windows in from the corner of the house, allowing plenty of light while protecting privacy and a sense of enclosure in the living room. We enlarged the front porch to create a more graceful transition from the public to private space. We located the front door so that the circulation from entry into the house would allow for furnishing the living room with a sitting circle that is not intruded upon by people walking through the room. Sight lines through the living spaces were an important consideration in the design. The owners wanted discreet spaces for living room, kitchen, dining and family room, but also wanted the living spaces to feel connected and to be able to easily watch their children. Being able to see the children playing in the yard while getting things done inside the house was also important. While largely working with the existing structure, we opened walls and rearranged the use of spaces to make a series of connected living spaces with long views through them. The character of the remodeled house is a contemporary Craftsman with classic materials and cool, consistent colors.
