This beautiful tropical home built on Kauai's south shore takes a modern approach to tropical design. The teak columns are square, the eves are stained an ebony and the roofing is shaker. We wanted each space to feel open and the indoor-outdoor design to be carried throughout the home. Each bedroom opens up to the exterior lanai areas and both the master suite bathrooms open to private courtyards and outdoor showers. The main lanai is a mixture of teak and porcelain creating a modern and natural atmosphere. The infinity edge pool has a swim-up bar, aqua lounge area, and seamless spa.

The long, lean swimming pool and raised spa were set perpendicular to the home to take full advantage of the rectangular property. Extra-wide limestone coping provides a stunning frame, hides the skimmers with custom stone lids, and seamlessly blends with the random-rectangular limestone deck running the full width of the home. This view showcases the seamless connection between the custom pool and the covered pavilion. The raised pool wall with waterline tile detail adds visual interest while subtly separating zones. The pavilion provides shade, media, and seating—making this outdoor space just as functional for entertaining as it is for everyday relaxation.

This project really utilizes backyard space because of its creativeness and ingenuity in design and construction. Some of the pool tucks into the back of the house flawlessly so that the pool doesn’t extend too far out. With bubblers, stepping stones leading to the outdoor kitchen, and parallel deck level fire feature, it’s the perfect introduction to it’s vanishing edge feel. Custom tile and lighting accentuates the pool and backyard perfectly while the house is custom lit as well.
