This interior view highlights a functional garage addition and workshop space completed by Eric Cantu Remodeling for a home in the Preston Hollow neighborhood.
The image showcases a commercial-grade overhead storage lift, lowered to the epoxy floor, directly beneath an open ceiling hatch that provides access to the insulated attic space. Overhead, a custom hexagonal LED lighting grid is mounted to a black accent ceiling, illuminating the high-gloss gray floor below.
The workshop area is equipped with an industrial dust collection system connected to overhead metal ductwork, alongside portable air compressors positioned against the white walls. Two modern, glass-paneled garage doors allow natural light into the space, creating a practical layout designed for automotive and woodworking projects in this custom Preston Hollow build.

Transforming this small bathroom into a wheelchair accessible retreat was no easy task. Incorporating unattractive grab bars and making them look seamless was the goal. A floating vanity / countertop allows for roll up accessibility and the live edge of the granite countertops make if feel luxurious. Double sinks for his and hers sides plus medicine cabinet storage helped for this minimal feel of neutrals and breathability. The barn door opens for wheelchair movement but can be closed for the perfect amount of privacy.

Hand-forged drapery hardware blends effortlessly with the stained trim, tongue and groove ceiling, The room overlooks the scenic mountain view and the screened in porch complete with wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is splendid with knotty alder custom cabinets, handmade peeled bark legs were crafted to support the chiseled edge granite. A hammered copper farm sink compliments the custom copper range hood while the slate backsplash adds color. Barstools from Old Hickory, also with peeled bark frames are upholstered in a casual red and gold fabric back with brown leather seats. A vintage Persian runner is between the range and sink to effortlessly blend all the colors together.

In the middle of the Australian desert this airport for a gold mine is designed based on three Aboriginal Symbols: Person – represented in the curved shape of the lounge building. Sand Hills – represented by the sitting area. Boomerang – shown in the parking and represented by the coming and going of passengers between the parking area and mine village. Additional, internally the building represents the interior of an airplane. After a useful life serving the mining community, the building can be disassembled into 38 similar pieces of thermally insulated pre-stressed concrete. In addition, the macro truss made from steel is easily movable to another site to restart a new service cycle. The structure is a self-supporting structure (without the use of columns), is removable, includes non-fixed portable interiors (including bathrooms) and can be 90% recycled for new use. For the environmental performance, the lounge is designed to not produce sewage. It is achieved by using a system of dry toilets, the energy will be taken from solar panels with ClearVue PV technology located in the double-glazed curtain wall. A ‘Canadian well’ merged with air cooling by a pressure change will be used to generate passive ventilation with the benefit of producing no greenhouse gases. The concrete will not be painted but instead hardeners will be used for the floor. The doors will be "Trend Windows Low E Glass Sliding door" rated at no air infiltration for airflow through a closed door.

This small kitchen and breakfast room were cut off from the rest of the space. Opening it up meant a long, narrow space with odd shapes and need for very creative design. The result is a kitchen with zones that works for multiple people using it at once. This shows the bar and clean up zones. The bar is cleverly hidden behind cabinet fronts. They house an ice maker, wine cooler, and beverage cooler all be SubZero. A double trash can cabinet also helps with after dinner clean up as one heads to the farm sink flanked by panel front dishwashers by Cove. A glass front cabinet shows off glassware and the solid cabinet front holds portable cups for the beach.

This renovation was completed with the primary goal of removed the carpet in the stairs which was not only difficult to clean but constantly looking worn in this very busy household. Ideally they wanted a durable, low maintenance flooring solution that still added character and coziness. The solution: Luxury vinyl planks! The unique and discreet metal nosings we used respect the clean lines and richness of this amazing plank in a non-commercial way. NOTE: While not all vinyl planks are created equal - the good ones are worth paying a little extra for!
