This home was originally built in the 1700s and was the Post Office for most of Nassau County but is now a private residence. We were brought in to completely renovate it to make it suitable for 21st century living while honoring the original integrity of the home. Some of the most interesting components were transforming the 'ice house' into a state-of-the-art office for the owner and providing a modern feel to the kitchen including granite countertops and steel appliances.

Home owners Ken & Bonnie never used their dining room. What they really wanted was a traditional library room to house their large collection of prized books! During their first floor facelift and kitchen renovation, Advance Design also created an elegant library room filled with beautiful architectural details that flowed effortlessly with the rest of the home’s stately design and thoughtful details. “Advance Design’s master carpenter was a very patient perfectionist, cutting each and every little piece of trim until it came together with these intricate wood architectural details that we absolutely love!” reports Bonnie. “Our dining room was just a wasted room that we never used. We needed a place to store and display our extensive book collection, and now we have this amazing room that is an unexpected “wow” factor when guests walk in our front door”. On the right side of the Patio, a grouping of peonies brings wonderful spring color. This area features a granite vessel, a traditional element in Japanese gardens. This stately Tudor required a new kitchen. As a large open space with long site lines from adjacent rooms, the new kitchen needed drama, presence – to make a statement. Toward that, we chose bold forms, rich colors for the perimeter and a walnut island. Golden tones are included from the straps on the custom hood, the hardware and seating at the island. And – a decorative cremone bolt!
