The curves of the original garden have been emphasized by the creekbed and flower beds. The drainage problem has been solved with not just ingenuity but additional beauty. The statue of a faun--a minor woodland deity--caps off our project.

This is a photo of Maplewood Cottage, another home in the neighborhood that still sports the original decorative apron. This was my first source of inspiration. This home sold just a year after mine, although some of the details share more with the Queen Anne's of the 1880s. With more Aesthetic Movement influence, rather than the Colonial Revival. The window Apron however, has Colonial Revival written all over it.
