Located in a beautiful spot within Wellesley, Massachusetts, Sunspace Design played a key role in introducing this architectural gem to a client’s home—a custom double hip skylight crowning a gorgeous room. The resulting construction offers fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces within the home, and blends well with the existing architecture.
The skylight boasts solid mahogany framing with a robust steel sub-frame. Durability meets sophistication. We used a layer of insulated tempered glass atop heat-strengthened laminated safety glass, further enhanced with a PPG Solarban 70 coating, to ensure optimal thermal performance. The dual-sealed, argon gas-filled glass system is efficient and resilient against oft-challenging New England weather.
Collaborative effort was key to the project’s success. MASS Architect, with their skylight concept drawings, inspired the project’s genesis, while Sunspace prepared a full suite of engineered shop drawings to complement the concepts. The local general contractor's preliminary framing and structural curb preparation accelerated our team’s installation of the skylight. As the frame was assembled at the Sunspace Design shop and positioned above the room via crane operation, a swift two-day field installation saved time and expense for all involved.
At Sunspace Design we’re all about pairing natural light with refined architecture. This double hip skylight is a focal point in the new room that welcomes the sun’s radiance into the heart of the client’s home. We take pride in our role, from engineering to fabrication, careful transportation, and quality installation. Our projects are journeys where architectural ideas are transformed into tangible, breathtaking spaces that elevate the way we live and create memories.

In the latest trends in kitchen remodel we have noticed the use of a warmer grey color for the kitchen cabinets. The finish on the cabinets is divided between sleek look or weathered look with aging details and the mix of both in the kitchen is fantastic. More glass doors with incorporated indirect lighting is the perfect way to show your favorite dishes but also helps create the coziness in your space. The focal points in the Spring/ Summer 2018 will be the hoods over the cook tops and the kitchen islands. The hoods will become bigger and more masculine but will have more decorative details to them so that they can draw attention and be the "hero".
The islands are going to grow bigger so that they can perform the duty and perhaps replace the kitchenette table and to do so the new islands will be very specific in shape and functionality to each owner/ cook. To accomplish the new visions for the kitchen islands, we at Karin Ross Designs like to extend the size by adding different shapes of decorative feet and or shelving instead of having another roll of cabinetry under a bigger slab of counter top. By adding feet and or shelving for your cook books and such we convert the island in a big prep area but also in the much desired space to gather around the cook preparing the family meal. After all one of the best family secrets in accordance to some soap operas, are revealed around the table in the kitchen as the meal is been prepared....

A brick stone pizza oven is an essential component of traditional Italian pizza-making. These ovens are specially designed and capable of operating at high temperatures, characterized by their brick stone structure. This unique construction offers several advantages and imparts a distinctive flavor and texture to the pizza.
Brick stone pizza ovens typically operate using wood, charcoal, or gas fuel. The bricks inside the oven distribute heat evenly, creating an ideal cooking environment. This helps to achieve a crispy crust on the pizza and ensures proper cooking of the base.
The most notable feature of these ovens is their ability to reach extremely high temperatures. Many brick stone ovens can reach temperatures as high as 900°F (480°C). This intense heat allows pizzas to cook rapidly while preserving the flavors of the ingredients. Moreover, pizzas cooked at such high temperatures strike a perfect balance between a thin base and a crispy crust.
One of the distinguishing characteristics of brick stone ovens is their short cooking time. Pizzas are typically cooked within a few minutes, enabling quick service to customers. Additionally, the high temperatures and direct contact with the flames contribute to excellent caramelization on the pizza's surface.
Brick stone ovens are not limited to pizza alone; they can also be used to prepare other dishes. Meats, vegetables, seafood, and bread, among many other foods, yield fantastic results in this type of oven. The oven's ability to retain high heat adds a special flavor and aroma to the cooked dishes.
In conclusion, brick stone pizza ovens are a significant element of traditional Italian pizza-making and are favored by many professional pizzaiolos. These ovens impart a unique flavor and texture to pizzas, with crispy crusts and perfectly cooked bases. Moreover, the versatility of these ovens allows for the preparation of various other dishes, creating exceptional taste experiences.

Outdoor Living should look, feel and taste FABULOUS.
The free standing DI FIORE Outdoor Pizza Oven is perfect for family outings.
The realism is the trend of outdoor dining and preparation that reaches far beyond the grill. The wood fired Outdoor Pizza oven can cook pizza, calzones, baked stuff shells, breads and much more.
Two ways to cook with the Wood Fired Pizza Oven.
One way with the door open and flamed pushed to the side and pizza place on the other. The Pizza is cooked right on the floor of the oven.
Secondly is the old fashioned hearth oven technique of escalating the temperature of the oven and then closing the door with the food placed in the now temperate oven heat.

Neutrals with white trim are a classic color scheme. This home required extensive surface preparation due to sun exposure, but is prepared for the summer sun and biting winter cold for years to come.

We loved working with these homeowners who wanted a modern take on a traditional eat-in kitchen. The new kitchen layout relocated the kitchen from the center of the home to the back of the home. This allowed for a large kitchen sink window to capture the views of the wooded back yard. A generously sized island allows the family to gather around while various tasks are simultaneously happening. There is plenty of counter space for preparing food. Baking and meal preparation can easily take place at the same time in this space. Moving the kitchen to the back of the home also allowed room in the center for a dining table adjacent to the gas fireplace where many a cozy meal could be had together.

This St. Louis Park Minnesota home was built in 1938, with several remodeling updates and the addition of a four-season porch over the years. But the kitchen looked dated with its dark Oak cabinets, and the appliances were tired. So, the owners chose to transform a smaller kitchen and dining room into an amazing living/entertaining space.
To open up the space the non-supporting wall that separated the kitchen and the dining room was removed. The new open design features a peninsula with seating for three, just right for casual dining and conversation. Extra-wide drawers below provide storage for those larger kitchen utensils.
New 1 ½ inch Red Oak flooring was installed and stained to exactly match and connect the existing living room and dining room. White flat-panel upper and lower kitchen cabinets and drawers feature brushed nickel hardware. The white double bay undermount kitchen sink features Kohler faucets with detachable spray head.
New stainless-steel appliances are featured throughout, and the custom wood-paneled clad stove hood is vented outdoors.
But maybe the most interesting part of this kitchen’s appeal are the bright “Calacatta Plazo” Quartz countertops. This choice of this Quartz shows subtle gray veins.
Finding Subway tile in the color of that gray vein was challenging. But it was worth it. “Greige” colored Subway tile was chosen for the backsplash. White grout and the horizontal orientation of the tile makes the room feel larger, making this backsplash the perfect complement to this kitchen design.
With all this white the kitchen is already pretty bright. But the perfect lighting combination brings it all together. Pendant lights above the sink and peninsula offer just the right design touch. Bright, under-cabinet lights make meal preparation easy. The in-ceiling and pendant lights are on dimmers – something Rick suggests for all his remodeling projects. Lights and music for meal preparation are remotely controlled using Apple’s assistant, Siri.
The result: A bright white kitchen that opens up the room and blends perfectly with the existing design.

We worked alongside ACG Architects and accessible kitchen design specialist, Adam Thomas to create this stunning wheelchair-accessible kitchen so our client could prepare, cook and serve meals for her family independently.
We designed this kitchen to have three different heights to enable our client and family to prepare and cook food easily. For example, the accessible worktop with a custom-made sink was made to be 870mm - the perfect height for a wheelchair user.
Other key features in this design include wheelchair level ovens with tray slides that sit directly under two Neff Slide & Glide ovens, a Neff Steamer and a Microwave, so hot oven trays can be moved easily across each tray slide.
A pull-out shelf allows for food/trays to be moved easily to the worktop level that was designed to be lower than standard for wheel-chair use. In front of the hob, there is also a protective lip at the edge of the worktop to stop a pan from boiling over onto the floor, or onto the client's lap.
A stone sink was also custom made by Cosentino, so it wasn’t too deep for our client to reach into.
The architects included wood slatting across the entire ground floor that creating a stunning feature in the kitchen space. Each slat was designed to run with precision over the door units - there were also toasters and pull-out drawers hidden behind this area which were designed to be isolated from the power when the doors were closed.
Mixing different materials and textures in a kitchen space created interest and contrast. The striking mix of the stained wood slatting, Graphite Grey cabinetry and durable Dekton Keon worktops in this collaborative kitchen design creates a real wow factor.
This kitchen design works for each family member with varying needs and heights so that it is a space that allows for the whole family to enjoy and create memories together.

Sunset Construction and Design specializes in creating residential patio retreats, outdoor kitchens with fireplaces and luxurious outdoor living rooms. Our design-build service can turn an ordinary back yard into a natural extension of your home giving you a whole new dimension for entertaining or simply unwinding at the end of the day.
Today, almost any activity you enjoy inside your home you can bring to the outside. Depending on your budget, your outdoor room can be simple, with a stamped concrete patio, a grill and a table for dining, or more elaborate with a fully functional outdoor kitchen complete with concrete countertops for preparing and serving food, a sink and a refrigerator. You can take the concept even further by adding such amenities as a concrete pizza oven, a fireplace or fire-pit, a concrete bar-top for serving cocktails, an architectural concrete fountain, landscape lighting and concrete statuary.
Cooking
Something to cook with, such as a barbecue grill or wood-fired pizza oven, and countertops for food preparation and serving are key elements in a well-designed outdoor kitchen. Concrete countertops offer the advantages of weather resistance and versatility, since they can be formed into any shape you desire to suit the space. A coat of sealer will simplify cleanup by protecting your countertop from stains. Other amenities, such as concrete bar-tops and outdoor sinks with plumbing, can expand your entertainment options.
Hearth
Wood-burning or gas fireplaces, fire pits, chimineas and portable patio heaters extend the enjoyment of outdoor living well into the evening while creating a cozy conversation area for people to gather around.
If you’re interested in converting a boring back yard or starting from scratch in a new home, look us up! A great patio and outdoor living area can easily be yours. Greg, Sunset Construction & Design in Fresno, CA.

The owners are restaurateurs with a special passion for preparing and serving meals to their patrons. This love carried over into their new outdoor living/cooking area addition. The project required taking an existing detached covered pool pavilion and expanding it into an outdoor living and kitchen destination for themselves and their guests.
To start, the existing pavilion is turned into an enclosed air-conditioned kitchen space with accordion French door units on three sides to allow it to be used comfortably year round and to encourage easy circulation through it from each side. The newly expanded spaces on each side include a fireplace with a covered sitting area to the right and a covered BBQ area to the left, which ties the new structure to an existing garage storage room. This storage room is converted into another prep kitchen to help with support for larger functions.
The vaulted roof structure is maintained in the renovated center space which has an existing slate roof. The two new additions on each side have a flat ceiling clad in antique tongue and groove wood with a lower pitched standing seam copper roof which helps define their function and gives dominance to the original structure in the center.
With their love of entertaining through preparing and serving food, this transformed outdoor space will continue to be a gathering place enjoyed by family and friends in every possible setting.

This kitchen by Bilotta’s Fabrice Garson was done in collaboration with Constantin Wickenburg Architects. Featuring Rutt cabinetry the client opted for a Shaker-style door with a step and thinner stiles and rails – a more sophisticated take on a typical Shaker. The perimeter is Super White paint and the island Baltic Grey. The drawers are Rutt’s patented dovetail drawer in walnut – like a jewelry box for your silverware and other accessories. Overall, the space is clean, classic and inviting. It’s a traditional design with transitional elements. The original kitchen had a flat ceiling – a coffered ceiling and central skylight were added to the space to bring in additional natural light. The kitchen is separated into two areas – the prepping, cooking area and the dining area with the custom china cabinet and banquet, both in the Baltic Grey to mimic the island. The cooking area has a lot more natural light with its big open windows on all sides allowing for the client to look out on her garden while preparing meals. The banquette area is a cozy nook, a little more formal than the rest of the space with the beautiful custom curved mullions on the china cabinet that light up inside to show off their serving pieces and stemware. The soft gray fabric on the banquette cushions make for a peaceful corner in which to relax after a long day or preparing a big meal. Appliances are a mix of Gaggenau, Sub-Zero and Marvel. The countertops are Super White quartzite with a square edge and backslash is marble subway tile. The countertop behind the banquette and at the china cabinet are natural walnut by Grothouse Lumber.

This beautiful kitchen was made possible by adding additional square footage to this ranch home. Enlarging the kitchen space allowed for a eat in kitchen and a larger area to prepare meals and entertain to the family's liking. The earth tones create a touch of a rustic and naturalistic feel soft and easy on the eyes. The island acts as an informal eating area for the couple, with plenty of space at the counters for meal preparations.

This comprehensive Northbridge project involved a complete site transformation, beginning with land preparations, demolition, and waste removal. The team dismantled unwanted structures, cleared vegetation, and prepared the site with machine earthworks and leveling. Drainage and electrical provisions were installed, including trenching for pipes and conduits.
Concrete works laid the foundation for walls, stairs, and driveways, followed by masonry construction for retaining and garden walls, complete with drainage and waterproofing. Masonry work added elegance with rendered finishes, and new tiling revitalized stairs, paths, and the driveway. Landscaping included garden restoration, turf installation, and pathway enhancements. The project concluded with pool area repairs, waste removal, and detailed finishing touches.
