The primary goal for this Concord, MA 1970’s contemporary expansion and renovation was to customize the house for the needs of a growing, active family. The project was done in phases. Phase one involved renovating and expanding the kitchen, adding a sun room and adding a first floor entry porch and foyer. Phase two included adding a master bedroom suite with deck, adding a multi-purpose large family room and outdoor patio with hot tub and remodeling a basement recreation room. On the third floor, a private home office.

The design prioritizes open sightlines, improved circulation, and purposeful zones for daily living. The kitchen, dining, and living spaces were reworked to feel cohesive and expansive, while private areas such as the primary suite were enhanced for comfort and usability. After completing their primary bathroom, mudroom, and laundry room, this repeat client invited our team back to reimagine their kitchen, creating a space that better supports how their family lives and gathers. The layout was thoughtfully reworked to improve flow and function, centered around a larger island with seating for four. Designed as the heart of the home, the island creates a natural place for connection, whether for everyday meals or hosting. Custom elements bring both purpose and character to the space. A built-in display cabinet adds storage and soft ambient lighting, while custom booth seating with integrated drawers offers a practical, space-saving solution without sacrificing design. Layered lighting throughout enhances warmth and depth, complementing the balance of light and dark finishes. A mixed tile backsplash ties the entire space together, adding texture and a cohesive, elevated feel. We added as much cabinetry with a proper pantry cabinet, pull out trash and plenty of base cabinets with drawers to make sure everything was seen and accessible. This 100 year old house was well kept but over the decades the house was feeling more compartmentalized than the homeowner wanted. Useless hallways and doors that didn't need to be there. We wanted some color without being too bold, a soft green for the kitchen and a modern large hex floor tile gave us color this house was asking for. We went with a low maintenance porcelain backsplash tile in a tone on tone white for a more handmade look. Paired with a durable quartz countertop for lots of cooking and entertaining. The old kitchen was missing enough counter space so we almost tripled it with a little re-design on my end. The original windows were stripped down and stained for a more craftsman look and we carried that wood into the beverage bar area with some shelves. This home truly has transformed into a more functional and beautiful space!

This comprehensive main floor remodel transformed a dated early-2000s home into a warm, distinctive space tailored for modern family life and effortless entertaining. Located in Northwest Indiana, the home’s renovation included the kitchen, living room, dining-to-sitting room conversion, office, mudroom, and laundry—each space reimagined with layered detail and a cohesive design language. The project’s primary goal was to move away from builder-grade finishes and create a home full of character and comfort. In the kitchen, we reworked the layout to improve flow—removing a restrictive peninsula, extending the island for added seating, and designing a custom hood and cabinetry plan that worked around existing structural beams. A warmer palette of earth tones and neutrals reflected the clients’ personal style, while upgraded lighting, a statement range, and a larger pantry elevated functionality. A double-sided fireplace connecting the kitchen and living room was redesigned to feel more intentional, with cohesive materials used on both faces. In the living area, a previously underwhelming wet bar became a standout moment with deep green cabinetry, a wine fridge, and built-in storage—adding both function and sophistication. Throughout the project, structural limitations and narrow footprints presented design challenges that were met with custom solutions—from a uniquely shaped island to intentional lighting plans that worked around ceiling beams. The final result is a highly personal, connected series of spaces that support both everyday routines and meaningful moments of gathering—infused with warmth, purpose, and a relaxed sense of luxury.
