At times, the most remarkable spaces emerge when we begin with a clean slate. In this particular project, we had the privilege to design a completely custom home, starting from scratch for our client. They simply entrusted us with a piece of land, and from that point forward, we handled everything. Our primary objective for this project was to craft an exceptional, contemporary, and practical dream home for a family of four. By creatively manipulating height variations at the front of the house, we conceived the standout element of the home: the impressive windows that showcase the bespoke steel spinal staircase.

The master bathroom had seen better days. The dated tile work, cramped shower area, and lack of storage made her morning routine far from serene. She longed for a place where she could unwind after a long day. The old, cramped shower enclosure was replaced with a spacious, custom-tiled shower featuring luxurious fixtures and modern amenities. The tub was removed and a dry-off was added, creating a dream spacious shower. The wall tile blends Themar Venato Gold Matte 12x24 Porcelain with Ryker Black 4-Inch Leather Hexagon Marble Mosaic. The latter was also utilized in the wall niche of the newly constructed pony wall. The cabinets received a makeover with a fresh coat in SW 7026 - Griffin hue, which looks fantastic with the newly installed Carmen Symphony Quartz Countertops to create a harmonious kitchen ambiance. The pair of 24x36-inch Matte Black Moon Mirrors, equipped with pivot features, not only look fantastic but also offer clever storage options. Colleen was thrilled with the renovations, and we're privileged to have been a part of this journey. Our team relished collaborating with her at every phase of the project, and her contentment is invaluable to us.

Beyond Shades had the privilege of dressing the windows in this 1880s Executive House in the Pullman Historic District occupied in 1900 by Thomas Dunbar, Superintendent of the Car Works. This home is open to the public a few times a year in Chicago’s new National Monument in Pullman on the South Side of Chicago.

Like an artful masterpiece, Ardmore Residence exhilarates, engages and inspires. Rising boldly above Singapore’s premier residential address, Ardmore Park, the 36-story residential tower redefines the luxury living of an urban home with imagination, privileges and services that are exclusive to its residents. The apartment’s spaces conjure up the harmony of a light-filled urban cocoon rising above the energy of the city. Orchard Road’s landmarks dazzle in crisp clarity from the apartments facing south, while the units with a north orientation enjoy Bukit Timah Hill’s lush green foliage. The living and dining wing opens to a doublevolume balcony that presents an impressive space for residents who enjoy entertaining at home in style, or simply relaxing in their luxury of space. At more than 2,000 sq. ft. each, all of the 56 luxurious units have been fitted with premium stone finishes, carefully selected and processed to achieve the optimal aesthetical effect. M&G inspected and selected the blocks directly from quarries located in Iran, Italy and Spain, and then fabricated according to the customized finishes of each unit type. The flat cut pieces and solid curved pieces for each unit were then laid out per the shop drawings, inspected and approved by the owner’s representatives, before individually numbered and packed for delivery to site. In the main lobby, an impressive onyx feature wall captures the attention of visitors with its stunning book-matched effect. The blocks were individually selected to ensure consistency of the veining, then allocated to each elevation to create optimal symmetry when book-matched. The slabs were then cut and book-matched polished, laid out to visualize the effect and to mark the actual sizes to cut, before finally cutting to size. Special attention was paid to the curved corner pieces in order to achieve a similar book-matched effect as the flat pieces. The landscaped areas also feature granite in various thicknesses with radial cuts to complement the architectural style of the project.

When Clyde returned to the office, there was already a check in the mailbox for slide number two. This 14,000-square-foot home now features 72 linear feet of curved white oak slide: one connecting the second floor to the main level, another linking the main floor to the finished basement. The weave contains UV stabilizers to resist fading even when left in direct sunlight all season. The weave colour is all the way through and is varigated to give a “natural” look. The colourants used in the fibre are either organic or eco-friendly and are 100% recyclable. The fibre is resistant to mold and mildew, moisture, sea water and chlorinated water. Powder-coated frames are made with heavy gauge welded tubular aluminum so they will not rust or loosen over time. Nylon feet on all legs prevents scratching of outdoor surfaces. Cushions are made with resilient “springy” foam and hollofil stuffings to provide long-term comfort and easy drainage. All materials are mold and mildew resistant. The weave colour is available in Tuscan Brown and Mohave.

Inspiration for a coastal home design remodel in Charleston

After long waiting, Expo Milan 2015 has finally opened its doors! Among more than 140 pavilions to describe the world, UAE pavilions , an imposing structure , including a theater and the Emir apartment was created . The pavilion, which stands for modernity, is one of the larger lots of Expo Milano 2015, and benefits from a privileged location, right in the center of the exhibition, alongside the main axis Decumanus. The FOSTER+PARTNERS architectural office , who designed it, was able to reflect the country's cultural heritage and in particular its focus on sustainable development. The amazing shape is shaped by a series of rippled walls, with a height over 12 meters, evoking both the shaded streets of country’s historic settlements , and the magnificent sand dunes of its deserts. There is also a charming green space dedicated to the native vegetation. At the end of the World Fair The lot will be dismantled and reassembled in Masdar City. THE CONTRIBUTION OF GRASSI PIETRE Grassi Pietre also participated in the creation of this wonderful project by FOSTER+PARTNERS. In particular (on behalf of Tecton, Reggio Emilia - Italy) the company from Nanto (Vicenza - Italy) provided 500 square meters of flooring in Trani Biancone - slabs 120x70x2 cm in honed finish - used for the Emir apartment (located inside the pavilion) and the lower level flooring adjacent to the auditorium. The Grassi Pietre marble was also used to clad the interior stairs leading to the apartment: Grassi Pietre provided the Trani Biancone for the shaped stairs, 3 cm thick honed surface. Moreover, Grassi Pietre also supplied 40 square meters of floor in marble Trani Biancone, in sandblasted finish (4 cm thick), for the outside terraces. The external staircase was built instead in Trani Bronzetto. All the outside surface have a non slippery bushhammered surface. TRANI BIANCONE And BRONZETTO Trani is a marble that moves between shades of beige (Bronzetto ), ivory (Biancone ) and rosé. The nuance changes depending on the variety. It is characterized by the many thin and sinuous veins. Remodeled in 2018 and sold in 2020, we have had the privilege of updating the home network, entertainment, and lighting control system for the new homeowners.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: These, like many of our clients, are multiple luxury home owners. As they traveled, inspiration turned into multiple renovation phases kept cohesive with our firm's design and construction. First the kitchen was opened up for their comfort and to maximize the incredible sea & marsh vistas, then the master bed made into a bed/bath suite, then the living room modernized. RENOVATONS: The in-house kitchen design maximized both practical comfort and entertainment which included extending the island and relocating the sink to the end of the island. Condo bylaws usually limit coring through floor slabs so the island was raised to accommodate the necessary plumbing underneath. To see the incredible sunsets over the marsh, the contiguous room walls were shortened and kitchen counterspace added. We fabricated rock maple custom cabinetry in a muted washed grey stain to capture the subtle definition of the wood grain. Storage was accommodated in for a butlers pantry with pullout trays to for practical reachable convenience. The kitchen's focal point is a custom niche surround for the Thermador gas range made practical for cooking incorporated uncials and spice access. A gorgeous tile backsplash the owner selected added the final panache and glitz which also complements the Cambia quartz countertops. Appliances are a 36" subzero refrigerator, Fisher Paykel two drawer dishwasher, Thermador 36" gas range suitable for creating delicate sauces, a custom hood, and a stainless drawer microwave. MASTER BATH renovation transformed two contiguous rooms into a luxury master suite. Removing several walls, we were able to design for a spacious double sink vanity and include a personalized makeup center while fitting the new shell floor tiles seamlessly to match the master bedroom flooring. Custom cabinetry with oak match booked lateral grain drawers form a unique monolithic style that flows as a tree would from one end to the other. Satin frameless glass doors were added to the shower and water closet for an airy - spa feel, while functioning for privacy. LIVING ROOM Entertainment cabinetry were added for travel mementos and electronics along with the removal of the traditional fireplace. In its place, a modern linear gas fireplace was installed with a Dekton heat safe solid surface face. CONTRACTOR's Note: We are privileged to know these friends.
