This transitional bright Tulsa kitchen features two islands.
In the foreground is the smaller island designed to house an under-counter beverage refrigerator and bar sink on the working side and a lit glass base storage space to showcase the homeowner's fine china. Just a step or two away from the smaller island is a stand-alone cabinet space holding beverage making items.
In the background is the larger island designed to handle the cooking, featuring an induction cooktop next to the super-functional Galley Workstation with plenty of base cabinet storage below to conceal pots and pans and a stainless professional island vent hood above. On one side of the island, we designed a round seating area wrapping around to join two drawer storage cabinets. The other side of the island features a waterfall edge counter.

This Highland Village kitchen remodel centers around one show-stopping element: Taj Mahal Quartzite. This natural stone is highly sought after for its creamy, marble-like translucence and incredible durability. However, it is notoriously difficult to cut without cracking. Because we own Stonemeyer Granite, we don't trust this expensive material to third-party sub-contractors. We fabricated and installed this island in-house to ensure perfection.
The "Operator" Difference:
The Stone: You are looking at a premium slab of Taj Mahal Quartzite. Unlike engineered quartz, this natural stone has depth and movement that can't be faked. It is harder than granite and scratch-resistant, making it the ultimate surface for a luxury kitchen.
The Precision: Look closely at the undermount sink cutout. Our fabrication process ensures a flawless, polished edge that reveals the stone's inner beauty. We paired it with a professional Stainless Steel Undermount Sink and high-arc faucet, installed by our plumbing division (Haltex Plumbing) for a leak-free guarantee.
The Palette: We used the soft, warm veining of the quartzite to bridge the gap between the Dark Stained Island Cabinetry and the lighter rustic elements in the living room (peeking through in the background).
The Flow: The multi-tonal wood-look flooring was selected to hide traffic wear while complementing the warm gold tones in the countertops.
Materials Used:
Countertop: Taj Mahal Quartzite (Polished)
Sink: 32" Stainless Steel Single Basin
Cabinetry: Custom Maple with Espresso Stain

When Blues music legend and fourth generation builder, Albert Cummings and his interior designer wife, Christina decided to build their forever home in the Berkshire Mountains, they knew they wanted Wood-Mode cabinetry throughout. After specifying Wood-Mode in many of their customers’ homes, the Cummings collaborated with Wood-Mode dealer Vonnie Marcyoniak of Kitchens & Baths by Herzenberg to translate their vision into ideal spaces within their own build. The “House That Blues Built” features spaces inspired by the homeowners’ vision and unique background.
The Cummings put enormous thought into every space of their home, spending years collecting the design ideas they would eventually incorporate. It is Wood-Mode’s craftmanship they were familiar with and wanted the “feel” of their cabinetry – a quality that they know will last a lifetime – and the finishing touches inside each drawer and behind every cabinet.
Starting in the kitchen where Christina gave a lot of thought to how the space would be used, pulling inspiration from a range hood, and incorporating furniture details such as the Vintage Navy Blue island that would become the focal point of the room. Taking advantage of the kitchen’s 10 foot ceilings, upper glass front cabinets were designed to safely store yet publicly showcase heirloom cookie jars. Professional-grade appliances were selected, such as an integrated coffee machine, not only for appearance but because of Christina’s love for cooking and entertaining.
Christina shared that her favorite room in the house is the pantry, which is open and visible to the kitchen. Fitted with floor to ceiling cabinets in the same Vintage Navy Blue as the island, the space includes floating walnut shelves and a farmhouse sink with a mountaintop view.
The most innovative space of the home can be found on the lower floor in the guitar bar. Designed for acoustic perfection, the space includes a full-size bar where friends and family can gather to enjoy nights of music. To create the look and feel of a New Orleans Blues Bar, the Cummings’ chose Plain Sawn American Oak, which provides an interesting texture, and then finished it in an Ebony stain.

The image showcases a tranquil patio overlooking a turquoise swimming pool, which is connected to a small canal. The roofed patio is lined with light-brown stone tiles, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. At the center, a black patio table holds two small round bowls, likely for decoration or lighting. To the left, part of a sofa with dark brown wicker chairs is visible, while another wicker chair faces outward on the right. Additional wicker lounge chairs surround the seating area, providing ample space for relaxation. In the background, the pool is positioned to the right, with a canal just beyond the sofa. A house with a lush garden sits across the water, framed by palm trees and other tropical greenery. The bright blue sky and shimmering water suggest a coastal or tropical setting. The polished arrangement and professional composition indicate that the image may have been taken for advertising or promotional purposes, showcasing a luxurious outdoor retreat.
