I’ve been both honored and humbled to work on this project over the last 2 years: such a wonderful client and an incredible team of builders and consultants. Lives Lived Well (client) are a not-for-profit organisation that provides drug and alcohol rehabilitation amongst other things. In the past, when an individual enters a program, their typical domestic environment is disrupted for a time. Now, as a result of LLW’s vision, these six units will provide unity and nurturing within an integrated family dynamic. My hope is that the spaces, through the capturing of light, breeze, and guided perspectives provide an environment of calm for many, allowing Lives Lived Well to do their important and critical work.

Good business is not just about profit, it's also about helping people! iFurniture Assembly recently made a donation to Masbia Soup Kitchen in the form of buying Ikea food station and installing it at their new facility in Queens that will soon provide hot, nutritious meals to hundreds of New Yorkers in desperate need of food everyday. We believe that by helping each other we can make this world better!

Completed in 2019, this is a home we completed for client who initially engaged us to remodeled their 100 year old classic craftsman bungalow on Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill. During our initial conversation, it became readily apparent that their program was much larger than a remodel could accomplish and the conversation quickly turned toward the design of a new structure that could accommodate a growing family, a live-in Nanny, a variety of entertainment options and an enclosed garage – all squeezed onto a compact urban corner lot.
Project entitlement took almost a year as the house size dictated that we take advantage of several exceptions in Seattle’s complex zoning code. After several meetings with city planning officials, we finally prevailed in our arguments and ultimately designed a 4 story, 3800 sf house on a 2700 sf lot. The finished product is light and airy with a large, open plan and exposed beams on the main level, 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, 2 powder rooms, 2 fireplaces, 4 climate zones, a huge basement with a home theatre, guest suite, climbing gym, and an underground tavern/wine cellar/man cave. The kitchen has a large island, a walk-in pantry, a small breakfast area and access to a large deck. All of this program is capped by a rooftop deck with expansive views of Seattle’s urban landscape and Lake Union.
Unfortunately for our clients, a job relocation to Southern California forced a sale of their dream home a little more than a year after they settled in after a year project. The good news is that in Seattle’s tight housing market, in less than a week they received several full price offers with escalator clauses which allowed them to turn a nice profit on the deal.

I partnered with a wonderful non-profit, Sunshine on a Ranney Day to create a fun bedroom makeover for one of the kids they were sponsoring.

IWA Design Center worked with a country club to create wine lockers for members to conveniently store their collection on site. Each locker is separately keyed, includes LED accent lighting, is marked with a name plate, and holds 12 wine bottles. The decorative Flemish patterned alder wood frames have insulated glass doors with magnetic seals to maintain temperature.
To match existing cabinets, IWA was sent a sample for stain matching, so that the lockers would fit in seamlessly with existing furniture and millwork. The installation is front venting to allow for placement flush with the wall, using CellarPro's 1800 Houdini cooling units carefully hidden behind decorative hinged access panels. So far, the program has been profitable for the country club, and members are pleased to have wine lockers as an available feature.

This project was do in collaboration with my friends at Sweetwater Collaborative. Sweetwater Collaborative is a non-profit organization that work to educate the public about water wise and regenerative landscape practices.
Funded by the City of Santa Barbara as well as several other business and agency Sweetwater Collaborative and I worked to installed this project with the help of volunteers. In a hands-on work shop we explained principles of water wise gardening and demonstrated best practices when installing sustainable landscapes.
When the owner of this property decided to build an ADU ( Auxiliary Dwelling Unit) in their back yard they expanded the roof line of their property. In order to be in compliance with new California building the project required that a portion of the rain water coming onto this property must be stored on the property. That is where we came into help. Directing down spouts into basins, or swales in the soil is one of the most efficient and cost-effective way to capture and store rain water on a piece of land.
Calculations were done to determine the volume of water coming of the roof line in a given rain event from the ADU. The calculations go: square footage of roofline times .62 times 1, for 1” of rain. That total gives you the amount of water in gallons. Then divide the number in gallons by 7.48 find the cubic feet in that number of gallons. Then a basin with that holding capacity was designed into the landscape. Then the plantings were chosen. In this project we went with an 100% California Native Plant palette. We did this to help educate people about all the benefits of growing natives and to show case some of the beautiful plants native to Southern California. Sothern California is how to some of the greatest biodiversity of plants in the world. Native Plants are best adapted to thrive conditions from which they are natively found plus they help provide forage to the native fauna such as birds and insects.
Now the tenants in the ADU can look out and enjoy this colorful garden without the home owners needing to pay a huge water bill.

Un condo à Saint-Lambert unique en son genre qui est tout à fait à l’image de la propriétaire qui aime profiter de la vie ! On aime le décor osé. On a juste une vie à vivre me disait ma cliente !
A unique Saint-Lambert condo that is just like the owner who loves to enjoy life! "We like the daring decor. We just have a life to live" my client told me! Dynamic wallpaper gives warmth to space. The contrasts between the very clean lines of the kitchen and French antique furniture accentuate the eclectic tone of the decor. Located on the 7th floor overlooking the fireworks of Montreal is rather the condo which is a fireworks display.

A healing garden provides peace and beauty for residents.
This local non-profit organization provides end-of-life care for homeless men and women with late-stage and end-stage AIDS and terminal cancer. The client provided us with the design for a Healing Garden for the program’s residents, giving them a dedicated outdoor space to enjoy quiet contemplation, prayer, and group gatherings. Located on a busy and cramped corner in Adams Morgan, D. A. Dunlevy had to work around tight spaces and street traffic. We encountered numerous challenges that were mitigated through careful planning and design. The finished design is a mixture of custom carpentry, advanced concrete work, curved benches, custom metalwork, unique lighting, and a boulder altar as a centerpiece. The space provides room for walking, sitting, and contemplation amongst the peaceful surroundings. We were honored to be a part of this very unique and special project.

The floors are beautiful. They are the original oak floors that were sanded down and then stained a beautiful grey color that works perfectly with the light grey walls. Staged in mid century modern design appealing to buyers who want vintage made new.
