We wanted the garage to look like a barn and thus used board-and-batten siding and slate roofing tiles. The slate was salvaged from our previous roofing projects, including the historic Waybury Inn (from the Newhart show) in Middlebury, Vermont. The cupola with a golden-retriever weathervane really tied everything together.

This home in the Mad River Valley measures just a tad over 1,000 SF and was inspired by the book The Not So Big House by Sarah Suskana. Some notable features are the dyed and polished concrete floors, bunk room that sleeps six, and an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the living space.

For this kitchen remodel we used custom maple cabinets in a swiss coffee finish with a coordinating dark maple island with beautiful custom finished end panels and posts. The countertops are Cambria Summerhill quartz and the backsplash is a combination of honed and polished Carrara marble. We designed a terrific custom built-in desk with 2 work stations.

This modern farmhouse sits at an elevation of 1,180 feet and feels like its floating in the clouds. An open floor plan and large oversized island make for great entertaining. Other features include custom barn doors and island front, soapstone counters, walk-in pantry and Tulukivi soapstone masonry fireplace with pizza oven.

This home was originally built in the 1990’s and though it had never received any upgrades, it had great bones and a functional layout.
To make it more efficient, we replaced all of the windows and the baseboard heat, and we cleaned and replaced the siding. In the kitchen, we switched out all of the cabinetry, counters, and fixtures. In the master bedroom, we added a sliding door to allow access to the hot tub, and in the master bath, we turned the tub into a two-person shower. We also removed some closets to open up space in the master bath, as well as in the mudroom.
To make the home more convenient for the owners, we moved the laundry from the basement up to the second floor. And, so the kids had something special, we refinished the bonus room into a playroom that was recently featured in Fine Home Building magazine.
