Located in Old Town immediately overlooking Park City, this four-level family home incorporates elements of the historic silver mining town vernacular. The home steps back as it ascends the hill to reduce the mass, creating outdoor terraces with views up Deer Valley. The ground level is comprised of an articulated stone base with arched openings for vehicular access, which supports the complex interlocking gables of the upper stories. The geometry of the roof lines and overhangs are reminiscent of classic chalet architecture. The elegantly appointed interiors are defined by beamed ceilings and wooden wainscotting that run throughout the house, creating an atmosphere of comfort and warmth

Set within a mature wooded setting in Elk River, this project focused on introducing structure and durability while maintaining a natural aesthetic.
We installed a custom retaining wall system to define grade transitions and create usable space near the deck. A curved patio area with integrated stone detailing anchors the backyard and provides a clean, low-maintenance surface for gathering.
Decorative rock beds were incorporated to reduce upkeep while complementing the wooded surroundings. The result is a structured, functional outdoor space that blends hardscape craftsmanship with the natural landscape.

Modern and Playful Girl's Bedroom designer by London based Eklektik Studio. Unusual mix of pink and red as leading scheme colours, take the edge off sweet pink decor. Full of practical concealed storage makes this compact bedroom perfect for many years to come

This project encompasses the renovation of two aging metal warehouses located on an acre just North of the 610 loop. The larger warehouse, previously an auto body shop, measures 6000 square feet and will contain a residence, art studio, and garage. A light well puncturing the middle of the main residence brightens the core of the deep building. The over-sized roof opening washes light down three masonry walls that define the light well and divide the public and private realms of the residence. The interior of the light well is conceived as a serene place of reflection while providing ample natural light into the Master Bedroom. Large windows infill the previous garage door openings and are shaded by a generous steel canopy as well as a new evergreen tree court to the west. Adjacent, a 1200 sf building is reconfigured for a guest or visiting artist residence and studio with a shared outdoor patio for entertaining. Photo by Peter Molick, Art by Karin Broker

Clint Miller’s commitment to empathetic use of the Sonoran is exemplified in his family’s new home in Carefree. Miller purchased a home which had been reduced to a few standing walls but which occupied a classic desert lot in an older area of Carefree.
The home's design is an homage to the work of two masters of modern architecture: Philip Johnson’s Glass House; and Mies van der Rohe’s, central concept of “less is more” and use of glass and steel. The two revolutionized modern architecture and defined clean, minimalist design.
Influenced by these masters and subtly integrated into its site, the home is now a modern adaptation of Carefree’s earliest homes, featuring a simple, stretched, rectilinear design, complemented by a timeless, warm color palette and floor-to-ceiling windows which provide direct views of Black Mountain.
The home’s meandering driveway leads past a major wash and diverse, abundant vegetation to a dwelling that has been both reclaimed and modernized with such features as roof overhangs which shield the glass expanses from summer sun and linear ventilation patterns.

The interior of the home went from Colonial to Classic Lodge without changing the footprint of the home. Columns were removed, fur downs removed that defined space, fireplace relocated, kitchen layout and direction changed, breakfast room and sitting room flip flopped, study reduced in size, entry to master bedroom changed, master suite completely re-arranged and enlarged, custom hand railing designed to open up stairwell, hardwood added to stairs, solid knotty alder 8’ doors added, knotty alder crown moldings added, reclaimed beamed ceiling grid, tongue and groove ceiling in kitchen, knotty alder cabinetry, leather finish to granite, seeded glass insets, custom door to panty to showcase an antique stained glass window from childhood church, custom doors and handles made for study entry, shredded straw added to wall texture, custom glazing done to all walls, wood floor remnants created an antique quilt pattern for the back wall of the powder bath, custom wall treatment created by designer, and a mixture of new and antique furnishing were added, all to create a warm, yet lived in feeling for this special family.
A new central stone wall reversed with an over scaled fireplace and reclaimed flooring from the East became the anchor for this level of the home. Removing all the “divisions” of space and using a unified surface made unused rooms, part of the daily living for this family. The desire to entertain large group in a unified space, yet still feel like you are in a cozy environment was the driving force for removing divisions of space.

This garden is a perfect example of contemporary city design for a small space. Two custom built hardwood planters provide some height and depth to the narrow front yard. While the tile walkway is set on a stable concrete base ensuring safe passage in and out of the home in both summer and winter. The private back yard maximizes space by using a custom built hardwood table as both an architectural piece that defines the fire pit area, and an optional servery for larger dining parties.

This modern kitchen in an urban home creates a calm yet energizing space for cooking and entertaining. Clean cabinet fronts and sleek lines reduce visual clutter. A marble island with bar seating and a deep prep sink are lit by sleek brushed steel pendulum lights. A single ribbon of shelving with cabinet under-lighting creates a defined space for personal knickknacks, allowing them to contribute personality without disturbing the order of the space. A wall-mounted flat-screen provides an opportunity for cooking along with videos, watching a game, or video-chatting with family.

Perched on a south-facing slope overlooking Belvedere lagoon and the San Francisco Bay, this 4,000 sf residence was designed to utilize the foundations of an existing house.
The house consists of two bars connected by a glazed transparent zone containing the Kitchen and Dining spaces. This glazed space is the link between the protected and serene entry/pool garden to the north and a terrace and expansive views to the south. The master suite occupies the second floor and captures significant views of Mt. Tamalpais to the northwest.
Crisp detailing defines a simple interior pallette of polished stone flooring, anegre wood, painted wood and gypsum board, and exterior finishes are limited to cement plaster, stained cedar, stainless steel and anodized aluminum windows and doors.
Strategic demolition of the existing house allowing for the resell of materials, passive and active systems, the use of certified woods and the reuse of foundations significantly reduces the projects embodied energy throughout it’s life cycle.

Considering the flashy nature and the innovative designs that rustic contemporary houses are sporting of late, it really is not easy to fabricate a home that can showcase a mountain rustic look with just the right touch of contemporary.
Yet, this bold design, is really something ‘different' and the moment you lay your eyes on it, you cannot but help fall in love with its well-defined plan, sleek look, amazing use of natural stone and integration of BC fir and raw metal into the structure. This house is a direct design response to site, form and utility of building material, which combine to create a solid, robust structure. Disclosure of the stone work, expansive art glass windows and timber frame accents creates a visual impact. The front entry and facade is aligned with the midday sun. The long side of the triple garage act as a retaining wall.
Inside this house, rooms slide into each other, dissolving the problem of further enclosure. The plan is unrestricted by the geometry and a sense of infinite space is achieved. Materials are reduced to a palette of metal, concrete, glass and timber, underpinning the desire for a rustic but still contemporary home to be basic and creating an embedded modesty.

Engineered cedar siding creates beautiful gray-blue tones at the exterior of the home, while adding a textural element to activate the simple exterior design.

Calacatta Viola marble is defined by its dense, slow-formed crystalline structure, which produces the deep burgundy and violet veining that moves with rare chromatic intensity across a ground of cool white — characteristics that a high-gloss polished finish renders with full optical clarity on this wall-mount natural stone basin. Cut to a precise 20"×20" corner geometry with a 7" height, the floating profile resolves the architectural problem of compact bathrooms without reducing the visual weight the stone commands, while a fluted front profile introduces rhythmic shadow and tactile relief against the otherwise planar surface. The partially filled texture of the ribbed face contrasts directly with the mirror-polished basin interior, giving this corner wall-mount marble sink a layered materiality that reads as resolved architectural detail rather than decorative addition. Configured with one pre-drilled faucet hole for corner placement.
