The new Mt. Vernon with Efficient Energy (E2) technology is the most powerful and efficient stove ever designed by Quadra-Fire. E2 technology helps achieve 87% efficiency—saving money by burning less fuel. Plus E2 technology automatically adjusts the blower to maintain desired room temperatures. An 80lb hopper and easy-clean cast iron firepot reduce maintenance efforts. And the Mt. Vernon E2 is the only product available with cast iron construction on all major components—proving it’s built to last.

The bedroom floor shown here is from the Dixie Home "Bonterra" collection, in the "Cream Puff" color. The carpet is crafted from 100% STAINMASTER® Luxerell™ BCF nylon, which makes it the perfect choice for active households. Every STAINMASTER® carpet has a lifetime warranty, and is made with cutting edge fiber technology that provides anti-static protection, resistance to abrasive wear, and texture retention, allowing the carpet to retain its beautiful appearance up to 50% longer than other carpets. Plus, the Luxerell™ fiber shield offers stain resistance, reducing the ability of soil to stick to the carpet, allowing easy release during normal vacuuming and cleaning. This technology will allow your floor to stay 30% cleaner than any other carpet.

The design of this home was driven by the owners’ desire for a three-bedroom waterfront home that showcased the spectacular views and park-like setting. As nature lovers, they wanted their home to be organic, minimize any environmental impact on the sensitive site and embrace nature.
This unique home is sited on a high ridge with a 45° slope to the water on the right and a deep ravine on the left. The five-acre site is completely wooded and tree preservation was a major emphasis. Very few trees were removed and special care was taken to protect the trees and environment throughout the project. To further minimize disturbance, grades were not changed and the home was designed to take full advantage of the site’s natural topography. Oak from the home site was re-purposed for the mantle, powder room counter and select furniture.
The visually powerful twin pavilions were born from the need for level ground and parking on an otherwise challenging site. Fill dirt excavated from the main home provided the foundation. All structures are anchored with a natural stone base and exterior materials include timber framing, fir ceilings, shingle siding, a partial metal roof and corten steel walls. Stone, wood, metal and glass transition the exterior to the interior and large wood windows flood the home with light and showcase the setting. Interior finishes include reclaimed heart pine floors, Douglas fir trim, dry-stacked stone, rustic cherry cabinets and soapstone counters.
Exterior spaces include a timber-framed porch, stone patio with fire pit and commanding views of the Occoquan reservoir. A second porch overlooks the ravine and a breezeway connects the garage to the home.
Numerous energy-saving features have been incorporated, including LED lighting, on-demand gas water heating and special insulation. Smart technology helps manage and control the entire house.

Hüper Optik Select films provide maximum protection with unrivaled high heat rejection performance. Due to the films’ spectrally selective technology, visibility is not compromised. These films reject damaging infra-red and ultra-violet light rays that cause heat and fading, all without significantly reducing visible light transmittance. They are also 100% dye-free and will not fade over time. Unlike conventional hybrid metallized films that use dyed polyester layers or apply dye in adhesives to tone down the metallic look, Hüper Optik Select films offer a neutral, soft tone that does not appear metallic or shiny.

Smart technology was incorporated into this Needham bathroom remodel as part of a whole house overhaul. The client was looking for a clean, modern look while maximizing space. Lighting was critical as there are no windows in this pass-through bathroom. The mirror uses an environmentally-friendly LED light strip which reduces energy waste. Also, the backlit design is a natural and soft light, your eyes can easily adapt and is more suitable for makeup. There is a USB port and two additional outlets inside. An organizer on the first shelf keeps clutter off the counter.
