The David Hockney 1978 art piece Swimming Pool with Reflection inspired this California-cool bathroom. Watery-blue glass mosaic tile spills down the shower wall and out onto the concrete-gray tile floor in puddles. The custom back-painted glass vanity floats on the blue walls and is anchored by a chrome Kohler faucet, adding a modern sophistication to this fun space perfect for a young boy. Another item on the client’s wish list was a built-in doggie station for their two large dogs. This custom unit was designed with convenience in mind: a handy pot-filler was hard piped in for easy water bowl refills. The same glass backsplash tile and granite counter top were used to match the rest of the kitchen, and LED lights brighten the space the same way the undercabinet lights do. Rubber-bottomed dog bowls prevent any accidental spills, which are easy to clean up should they occur. If you are a dog lover then this is a must have in your home. A built-in dog feeding station with pot filler for easy water refilling. This above drawer and shelving also functions as great pet storage, so you can keep all your dogs stuff in one easy to access and remember spot. This cabinetry was also custom made by Pike's cabinet maker, and a granite slab was used for the top. This old farmhouse (ca. late 18th century) has undergone many renovations over the years. Spring Creek Design added its stamp in 2008, with a small mudroom addition and a complete interior renovation. The addition encompasses a 1st floor mudroom with extensive cabinetry and closetry. Upon entering the space from the driveway, cabinet and countertop space is provided to accommodate incoming grocery bags. Next in line are a series of “lockers” and cubbies - just right for coats, hats and book bags. Further inside is a wrap-around window seat with cedar shoe racks beneath. A stainless steel dog feeding station rounds out the amenities - all built atop a natural Vermont slate floor. On the lower level, the addition features a full bathroom and a “Dude Pod” - a compact work and play space for the resident code monkey. Outfitted with a stand-up desk and an electronic drum kit, one needs only emerge for Mountain Dew refills and familial visits. Within the existing space, we added an ensuite bathroom for the third floor bedroom. The second floor bathroom and first floor powder room were also gutted and remodeled. The master bedroom was extensively remodeled - given a vaulted ceiling and a wall of floor-to-roof built-ins accessed with a rolling ladder. An extensive, multi-level deck and screen house was added to provide outdoor living space, with secure, dry storage below. Design Criteria: - Update house with a high sustainability standard. - Provide bathroom for daughters’ third floor bedroom. - Update remaining bathrooms - Update cramped, low ceilinged master bedroom - Provide mudroom/entryway solutions. - Provide a window seating space with good visibility of back and side yards – to keep an eye on the kids at play. - Replace old deck with a updated deck/screen porch combination. - Update sitting room with a wood stove and mantle. Special Features: - Insulated Concrete Forms used for Dude Pod foundation. - Soy-based spray foam insulation used in the addition and master bedroom. - Paperstone countertops in mudroom. - Zero-VOC paints and finishes used throughout the project. - All decking and trim for the deck/screen porch is made from 100% recycled HDPE (milk jugs, soda, water bottles) - High efficiency combination washer/dryer.

Power washed entire building to clean all surfaces of loose dirt, dust, grime and contaminants Sanded to remove all loose paint Removed loose window putty and glazed windows with new material Trenched the entire perimeter to protect from water penetrating the building. Sprayed chemical solution to kill mold, mildew and prevent musty odors. Opened up stucco cracks, refilled and blended the texture to match existing stucco. Caulked around windows and where the stucco meets the under-hang. Covered project area with paper, plastic and canvas drops to catch paint drips,sprays and splatters Applied primer to repaired areas which insured uniform appearance and adhesion to the finish top coat. Sanded window sills and frames with multiple grits of sand paper to eliminate old paint and achieve a smooth paint ready surface. L-shaped kitchen with a ton of style & charm! Two-tone kitchen with a taupe perimeter and a wood island give this space warmth, complimented by the brass fixtures and finishes. The backsplash stone was created with large format tile to appear like a stone slab - who would know?!

Two cute niches created with Diamond Mosaic Tile Polished and 4x12 subway tileon the sides. 3x6 subway tiles are used outside the niche. Beautiful Carrara!
