LEVEL ONE The first floor kitchen opens to the living and dining space, offering a grand piano and wall of south facing glass. A master suite and private ‘home office for two’ complete the level. LEVEL TWO The second floor includes another open concept living, dining, and kitchen space, with kitchen sink views over the green roof. A full bath, bedroom and reading nook are perfect for the children. LEVEL THREE The third floor provides the second master suite, with separate sink and wardrobe area, plus a private roofdeck. ENERGY The super insulated home features air-tight construction, continuous exterior insulation, and triple-glazed windows. The walls and basement feature foam-free cavity & exterior insulation. On the rooftop, a solar electric system helps offset energy consumption. WATER Cisterns capture stormwater and connect to a drip irrigation system. Inside the home, consumption is limited with high efficiency fixtures and appliances. Admittedly, not afraid of color, the homeowner loved Alan's suggestion of adding the wood veneer to the mix of cabinetry, adding an additional layer of interest and the addition of texture. When this kitchen remodel was first underway, the homeowner envisioned a blue kitchen (orange was her 2nd choice!). She went to the paint store & found blues she liked, taped those color samples to the kitchen wall & one by one she and her husband whittled down their choices to the color blue you see now! With an existing pool and retaining walls, we took this space and made it more modern offering many various spaces for lounging, enjoying the fire, listening to the water feature and an upper synthetic turf area for playing games. It is complete with bluestone pavers, a modern water feature and reflecting pool, a raised ipe deck, synthetic turf, glass railings, a modern, gas fire bowl and a stunning cedar privacy wall!

The master bedroom volume floats about the masonry walls. The cladding and glazing absorb and merge with the colors of the environment. A balcony allows the view to the north and the the south simultaneously while protecting the master bedroom from the western sun exposure. The wood used for the cabinetry was passed through a steel comb roller on a belt planer to give it a rugged but smooth texture expressing the wood grain and reminiscence of tree bark. -The industrial looking metal dining table on wheels reflects the outdoor light brightening the space and enhancing the informal feel of a fun home. The Oxgut chairs with rolls are made with recycled fire-hoses!

A striking rustic staircase crafted from reclaimed wood integrates seamlessly with the organic modern design of this sustainable mountain home, reflecting meticulous craftsmanship.

The cantilevered living room of this incredible mid century modern home still features the original wood wall paneling and brick floors. We were so fortunate to have these amazing original features to work with. Our design team brought in a new modern light fixture, MCM furnishings, lamps and accessories. We utilized the client's existing rug and pulled our room's inspiration colors from it. Bright citron yellow accents add a punch of color to the room. The surrounding built-in bookcases are also original to the room.
