A dynamic great room space! The classic white shaker style kitchen is revolutionized with warm accents on the island, a modern glass panel back splash in a copper finish, and oil-rubbed bronze hardware. The custom curved fireplace wall is covered in a textural tile from Porcelanosa to accentuate its form. Two concave niches for artwork, a modern gas fireplace, and built-in t.v. make this a one of a kind feature. The staircase was modernized with dark wooden treads and a custom aircraft cable railing with welded iron posts to complement the large iron post supporting the eating bar fastened to the kitchen's island. The adjoining guest bathroom was remodeled with sleek modern finishes to flow with the design of the great room.

Pathway Design & Construction
In this two-story addition, the Owner's did not simply get more space – the very feel of their home was revolutionized. Through the remodel process, what had been a fine living area before was transformed into an exceptionally open and bright space for welcoming guests and thriving as a family. The deftly designed addition emphasizes a large back deck, which the family has said feels and acts like an extension of the interior space. The new elevated paver deck overlooks Downtown Seattle and the Cascade mountain range across Elliott Bay. Significant structural work allowed the family room to expand, a dining room to be created, and the basement den to grow to a full-fledged Seahawk haven.

Clint Miller Architect
Clint Miller’s commitment to empathetic use of the Sonoran is exemplified in his family’s new home in Carefree. Miller purchased a home which had been reduced to a few standing walls but which occupied a classic desert lot in an older area of Carefree.
The home's design is an homage to the work of two masters of modern architecture: Philip Johnson’s Glass House; and Mies van der Rohe’s, central concept of “less is more” and use of glass and steel. The two revolutionized modern architecture and defined clean, minimalist design.
Influenced by these masters and subtly integrated into its site, the home is now a modern adaptation of Carefree’s earliest homes, featuring a simple, stretched, rectilinear design, complemented by a timeless, warm color palette and floor-to-ceiling windows which provide direct views of Black Mountain.
The home’s meandering driveway leads past a major wash and diverse, abundant vegetation to a dwelling that has been both reclaimed and modernized with such features as roof overhangs which shield the glass expanses from summer sun and linear ventilation patterns.
